The temperature is getting warmer outside, and for many folks, that means it's time for fun weekend getaways, which include camping and nights spent sitting around a fire roasting marshmallows and making smores. Fortunately for vegans, the compassionate folks over at Sweet and Sara have created some superb vegan marshmallows that will stand up to your campfire and hot cocoa and are even good when veganizing your favorite rice-crispy-treat recipe without the nasty gelatin found in most marshmallows.
Now is your chance to win. VegCooking Blog and PETA Living fans can enter to win a fabulous gift basket of vegan marshmallows!
Sweet and Sara founder Sara Sohn has been vegan for 17 years. A few years back, she decided it had been way too long since she'd had one of her favorite childhood snacks: the rice crispy treat. With no culinary background but a lot of determination (and vegan sweets on the mind), Sara began her quest to create a vegan marshmallow, "the Holy Grail of animal-free sweet treats," and she did it!
With Sweet and Sara's marshmallows, the possibilities are endless. Mix them into vegan brownies for a rocky road effect. Dip them in chocolate fondue. Add them to holiday yams. Sweeten coffee or tea, or simply enjoy them as they are!
Enter to win a fabulous Sweet and Sara gift basket containing vanilla marshmallows, toasted coconut marshmallows, original smores, peanut butter smores, and bark. Just leave a short comment below telling us about the delicious vegan creation you will accent with your marshmallows if you win. One winner will be chosen at random.
The contest ends on June 30, and we'll contact the winners by July 3. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you're agreeing to both by commenting. Good luck!

Oh, we have wanted to try vegan marshmallows for years! My three daughters have felt left out at just about every picnic and bonfire and picnic, watching others make s'mores. So as much as I'd love to give some creative answer, the truth of the matter is: we'd make the campside classic~ s'mores.

3. Sweet ‘n Sara’s vanilla marshmallows
How to do it:
Prepare Chocolate Mousse recipe as directed. Refrigerate for 4 hours to overnight. Place mini crusts on a baking sheet. Place pan under the oven broiler (set to low) for approximately 5 to 7 minutes, depending on oven temperature, until marshmallows are melty and gooey. Serve alongside a scoop of soy ice cream or top with whipped soy topping, if desired.

I would most likely try some new recipe, because my friends and I always do things like grab things that look like they belong together, like cookies, so I would make cupcakes for our camping trip this summer, and mix the marshmallows into the batter, and some of them, I could perhaps melt slightly, and cover the top of the cupcake, maybe even if I have leftover money for snacks, I could buy a cute cupcake topper to fit the recipe. (:

But instead of regular cupcakes, perhaps mix the marshmallows into the batter, and when they're done, I could slightly melt some marshmallows, and cover the top of the cupcake, and if I have leftover snack money, I could even get a cute cupcake topper. Now that it is summertime my friends, family and I spend every Saturday sitting around a campfire, goofing off and eating food. Every time I sit there, looking bereft as they all enjoy some of their gelatinous smores, occationally waving them in my face to rub it in. I would love to wait until they had all finished their gelatinous treats and then come out with my own gloriously vegetarian, melty, sticky delights and take care to rub it in as much as possible. :)

i have just started about 2 years ago being vegan and i still havent tried alot of the stuff out there and i've been trying to get my boyfriend to be vegan or vegetarian just because you really dont need any of that stuff to live or be heathly(meat, milk, eggs, fish, etc.) so i think this would be a very tasty treat to get him rethinking that vegan organic foods arent as bad as alot of people think. I think id have some type of camping going on and you cant go camping without a campfire soo a bon fire with a bunch of friends, make some smores with organic chocolate and graham crackers and it could be something everybody can all feel good about and love :-] yummy yummy!!

S'more brownies definitely!
The coconut mallows for my mom who is an omni but I've converted to Sweet and Sara b/c of how rich and amazing their confections taste!
The plain s'more eaten plain, shared with my roomie most likely. The PB s'more, chopped up and swirled w/ tofutti cream cheese to make a ribbon in the center of classic banana bundt cake (a la Elvis and BakingBites.com).
As for the rest, oh goodness, too many ideas!

I think that I will just roast them. They are delicious on their own. And I am really excited to try them.
