My favorite icecream flavor, as boring as it may seem is vanilla. But the real advantage of vanilla is that its the perfect palate for delicious add-ins, like crumbled oatmeal raisin cookies (or any cookies for that matter!), chocolate chips, and the wonderful, vegan chick-o-sticks! Yum!

Becoming a vegetarian was very easy for me. I have eaten soy ice cream and other vegan treats before, but still ate dairy and eggs. But, I am finally embarking on a journey of becoming a vegan, because I researched in depth about the dairy and egg industries, and I didn't like what I saw. I took a 30-day pledge to stop eating eggs, and I already drink soy and almond milk. The vegan treats I have eaten were Soy delicious ice cream and Tofutti cuties. They are absolutely delicious. I'm finally taking the next step to becoming fully vegan, because I do not support any industry that tortures animals. Thank you.

I haven't had pistachio ice cream since becoming vegan three and a half years ago, which was always my favorite flavor. My friend Star5, made some amazing orange almond vegan ice cream, and I could have rolled over and died I was so happy. I don't often put toppings on my ice cream, but I think fresh shaved coconut, vegan caramel, or soy whip are the likely culprits for future cold-dessert exploits.

I am a chef that has recently (about a year ago) embraced veganism. Finding new recipes has been exciting, but I have yet to explore desserts in depth. I am from the south, and one of my favorite things growing up was the sound of the ice cream churn at family gatherings. I would love for my son to have that same love, but have been a bit disappointed I'm the commercial soy frozen desserts. I am excited to try the free recipes and can't wait for the book to come out!

This is very exciting. My tummy doesn't tolerate 'real' icecream and, frankly, I've felt deprived! I'm very keen to try these vegan ice-cream recipes. They look innovative and intriguing, as well as more fitting in a vegetarian diet that minimizes dairy.

Get ready for this one: tart lemon sorbetto (dairy-free)with Dr. Pepper ice cream topping. My kids adore it (and I actually kind of like it too.)

Banana, Raspberry and Vanilla soymilk ice cream made at home. It is amazing with some frozen blackberries to top it off.

I am so jealous, I live in good old South Africa, this is the first time ever that I am hearing about vegan ice cream, sound like HEAVEN. Any flavor will do right now!!! Around here, if you tell people you do not eat meat, they ask "so what do you eat", but at least I am in a space where I can create awareness, much needed awareness, but it does not always make me very popular.

As a topping, I love to melt peanut butter and pour it over any flavor. The peanut butter forms a "shell" and it's so yummy.

MMMmmm... we just made the most delicious vegan Strawberry Ice Cream ever! Can't wait to dive into the Vegan Scoop's recipes!

Strawberry Ice Cream

* 1.5 cups raw cashews
* 1 cup maple syrup or sweetener equivalent - brown rice syrup, agave nectar, simple syrup...etc
* 16 oz fresh strawberries (frozen = ok)
* 0.5 cup water
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Blend all ingredients in blender for about 2 minutes on high until very, very smooth.
Thickness should be similar to a thin pudding. Add more water bit by bit if needed.

2. Freeze according to ice cream maker's directions.

My favorite vegan icecream is made by taking a frozen banana and placing it in a vitamixer plus a dash of almond milk let it mix slowly until it looks like softserve icecream. Sometimes I add cinnamon. For a different flavor I add carob power.

My stepsister/best friend makes homemade vegan ice cream for us!She cuts a piece of fruit in half with all the skin and everything and then let's it freeze for about a day.Then she takes it out when it's frozen she scoops all the frozen fruit out and pours some kind of soy cream or something in it to make it taste like real ice cream except without Milk from mistreated cows!She puts the ice cream back in the fruit skin which provides a bowl for your delicouse vegan ice cream.Then you can add toppings like milk free chocolate sprinkles and fresh straberries!It is deliciouse!My step-sis really deserves a copy of this book because she is a vegan and the rest of our family are total meat eaters and everything so it can be really hard for her sometimes!This would really help her and she would really appreciate it!thankyou

Chocolate peanut butter rice dream... It was like heaven broke open and rained into my mouth after having only tasted soy ice cream. But my local grocery store stopped carrying the flavor and taunts me with with unwanted tubs of vanilla. I still check every time I'm there though it has been probably a year since I last found it there.

And I love butterscotch topping. Not that I can ever find it, either.

But the recent discovery of an ice cream maker in my basement leads me to believe I should be making my own anyway.

Overripe bananas, frozen, then thawed, and put into my ice cream-maker with some soy milk, coconut milk, pure can sugar, and blueberries. Fruity, healthy, and TOTALLY vegan!

Looooove so good creamy vanilla. sometimes ill get some and have a bowl of it filled with all of my favourite friuts usually berries. if im feeling it ill add some dark chocolate. sometimes ill even blend it with fruit and make a smoothie with it. its sooo good!

My current favourite homemade treat consists of frozen bananas & whatever kind of frozen berries I've got lying around. Throw them in the food processor with a bit of non-dairy milk (almond's my favourite) and some nutmeg or cinnamon or vanilla. Then freeze on a baking tray. Spoon it directly from the tray, or, if you want a fluffier texture, pop it back in the processor for a bit.

I covet an ice cream maker but my penny-scrounging went toward a tent first.

my favorite vegan ice cream topping is warmed spiced ginger preserves atop any flavor of soy or rice ice cream.... although it is best atop chocolate or vanilla. the best brand of spiced ginger preserves is mackays. it is made from 100% natural fruit and is made in scotland. the spicy ginger flavor adds something super delicious and unexpected to the sweetness of the soy or rice ice cream.

My favorite ice cream is something that's healthy and has a little flavor to it. I like basically all ice cream but I hate that the fact of it, is that it has DAIRY in it and we are using way too much of these cow's milk. It says that milk is good for your bones but other products (healthy ones) can get your energy and your body working like drinking water and taking morning walks and most of all eating healthy. Now a days we got all of these fast food places, once in a while you should eat there but not all of the time because that's why some people are fat or have diabetes or any other diease or sickness so please just stop eating all of this bad stuff, it's awful for you DON'T EAT IT YOUR HURTING AN ANIMAL AND YOUR BODY! So if I can win this book since it's summer now I'm going to start making this ice cream if I win. I also found ways to keep my family in shape because I have a boy and a girl and a red min pin and he's a boy too and they are all athletes so is my husband and I need to keep them away from this bad foods and other products and get them on the healthy side. My daughter is a true PETAKID she is always online looking and petakids.com and checking her emails that's it, she has stuff coming in the mail almost every other day from PETA and one day I think she will either become a lawyer or a veternarian or something on that line,don't get me started there was a bird on the side of our sidewalk we fed it and nurtured it and then we took it to an animal hospital/center they said they will take good care of it. My very first taste of a vegan ice cream was Trader Joe's soy ice cream in chocolate.I topped it with some nuts and a hunk of Wacky Cake(great,no eggs or dairy of any kind) and boom,I am forever spoiled for dairy ice cream! Any wonder that I am now a vegetarian a month later? Who needs the doubts of dairy when you can know for sure that no one is going to be hurt by your food choices,human or animal.

Just conducted an apartment search in LA where one of my criteria was that apartments be within a one-mile radius of Scoops--amazing ice cream parlor in East Hollywood that makes different amazing crazy flavors, vegan and dairy, every day. Coffee coconut and pistachio rosewater are two of my faves!

Then we made the vegan butter pecan on the "sneak peek" pages from The Vegan Scoop, courtesy of this site. Fantastically good; much better than I remember any dairy butter pecan ever tasting ('course it has been a while). Family loves it! I saw Wheeler making vegan peanut butter ice cream on Everyday Dish TV; tried it and it was good, too. Yet, the vegan butter pecan tops it all!
