Charlie Trotter, Daniel Boulud, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and Suzanne Goin—these are just a few of the contributors for the soon-to-be-released cookbook Great Chefs Cook Vegan by Linda Long. And the word "great" in the title is by no means an exaggeration.
The pages of the book are filled with recipes from an impressive group of A-list chefs who have kindly omitted the animal products they usually work with in order to create 100 percent vegan menus.
The recipes in the book are for high-end cuisine that would be a perfect fit for the pages of Gourmet or one of the many books where I've read about these very chefs. Reading about the food world is one of my favorite things, but it is always a bit disappointing because I know that I can't (by choice) experience what is being described. It has always been my dream that vegan food would become a bigger part of these magazines and books, and now Long has helped bring that dream to life by compiling all of these amazing recipes and by including gorgeous photos of each.
You can win your very own copy of the book—which won't be on shelves until August—by commenting here. Leave a short message and tell me something about one of your favorite chefs. No, they don't have to be vegetarian chefs, but please make the comments as veg-friendly as possible (don't say you like the chef at your local barbecue joint because of his tasty ribs—that's not gonna fly!).
The contest ends on August 15, and one winner will be selected and notified by August 22. And just so you know…by leaving a comment, you're acknowledging that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy and our terms and conditions. Good luck!
A few beautiful pictures from the book:

My favorite chef is Alton Brown From Good Eats. I love the fact that he cooks anything including tofu dishes. He helps people know how to cook and the science behind it. I get so many good ideas on how to cook veg food from his shows. His down to earth approach makes everyone feel like they can cook regardless of skill level.

I don't have any idea who the chef(s) is, but I love the cooks at Tomato Head. They will make anything vegan (and delicious!) and they always offer a vegan cupcake! Fantastic.
This cookbook looks great. I can't wait to check it out.

I used to really like Ina Garten before I went vegan because of the emphasis she put on using simple fresh ingredients, and also because she presents entertaining as a way to enjoy the company of family and friends and food, not to stress out over and ruin your meal.

I don't have a favorite chef. I have hundreds of cookbooks but most are contributed from many remitters. I really despise the food channel too. So if I had to have someone cook for me, it would be gramma as she was old school Europe and made the best cookies.

My favorite non-veg chef is Alton Brown. I love the detail he puts into one item - giving the history and providing several uses for food. Because usually he does one show on one item, it's easy to avoid the non-veg friendly shows about meat, etc. But I do love the ones on grains and veg, because they give great concepts and sometimes completely veg recipes.

I would love that cookbook!! One of my favorite chefs is Alton Brown. I love how he really gets into the science of cooking and teaches you how to make things work in your own way instead of being a slave to a recipe.

My favorite chef is Megan, the head chef of D'amico and Sons in the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. I work with her (as a server out front) and she makes me enjoy going to work. Megan strives to make our little restaurant the very best that it can be, and I'm so happy she came to work with us. (She also makes me anything vegan I want for my break, if she has the ingredients and the means)

My favorite chef is my friend Jodi. When I made the decision to go vegan (from being previously an ovo-lacto vegetarian), I knew I was making the right choice. But, I didn't realize how many foods I would no longer be able to eat (in the way I was used to eating them). One of my favorites was scones from a tea restaurant in NYC. Jodi and I met there weekly to chat, drink tea and eat scones. When I became a vegan, no more scones for me! Jodi knew how disappointed I was and took to her kitchen. She took an old scone recipe that she had and made them vegan for me. The next time we were to meet up, she invited me to her apartment and there, we once again shared tea and (vegan) scones. To this day, they are some of the best I've ever eaten.

My favorite chef is probably Giada De Laurentiis of the Everyday Italian cooking show. Her recipes use great vegetables and herbs. She makes lots of pastas and I've made many of her recipes using fakes chicken breast and the results are delightful. Her marinara sauce is all veggie and works great with everything. Her mother was a former model and a vegetarian and she had a show dedicated to her with all veggie recipes.

My favorite chef is my step-father-in-law Eric. He's crazy but he's an awesome cook. I think he used to work in Orlando but now he just cooks for the family and man...is he good!! I have occasionally seen him consult a cookbook but most of the time he makes a complete meal with like 5 different sides all from his own memory. He gets it all on the table at the same time and it all tastes great!! His meals are never simple either...I don't think he's ever prepared mashed potatoes that would be way too simple!

my boyfriend. after growing up in a meat loving family, he showed me that eating vegetarian meals isn't as alien as my family seemed to think. his love of simple salads, tofu stir-frys, and yummy salsas made me think, wow, there are men in the world who can eat dishes without meat in them, and enjoy it as much as me! [i was practically banned from my family when i told them i was going to be a vegetarian] i finally didnt feel inferior when i ate my falafel. and he wasn't one of those people that ask questions like, "is that boca patty good?" or "whats that?" just because it wasn't meat. the best part of it all is having someone cook me a vegetarian meal that we will eat together instead of one meal for me, one meal for you type deal.

I am a mom and a fairly new vegetarian. I was inspired to become a vegetarian by my nine year old daughter, Isabella. Isabella made the decision to become a vegetarian because she loves each and every animal and wants nothing more than to not harm anything or anyone. Her compassion has led us to seek vegetarian meals and we have found a wealth of them ONLINE. Our favorite chefs are those people who go online and post their recipes and divulge their hints and what they loved about the meals that they cooked (and even what they would have changed). It has made meal time more fun we feel that we are making a difference. Thank you to all those who share!

Every time I go back to Ubuntu restaurant in Napa, CA, I am more and more impressed by Jeremy Fox's ability to take simple fresh seasonal produce and create beautiful and harmonious flavors. He emphasizes fresh produce rather than focusing on substitutes, and everything he creates is amazing. Ubuntu isn't vegan (it's vegetarian), but many dishes can be made vegan, and almost everything I've had there has blown me away.

My favorite chef is my husband, who loves to cook. He's not a vegan, or even vegetarian, so we cook our own meals but it's great together time for us! He wasn't too happy when I went vegan but now he thinks of recipes for me and he's always game for trying my food. He looks out for me, too. His mom was sure she'd made vegan pasta salad for me but I politely skipped over it (I know she wouldn't intentionally call a non-vegan dish vegan, but it's a new concept to his family). He kept verifying the ingredients and she finally remembered using salad seasoning. He checked the ingredients in that for me: #1 Parmesan Cheese. #2 Milk. He saved me!

My favourite chef while he may not cook Vegan or Vegiterian dishes would have to be Jamie Oliver. The reason for this is that he puts so much emphasis on using FRESH veg and when he uses meat he always uses FREE RANGE. And while I may not agree with eatting meat at all I agree that if you do eat meat that animal should have at least had a full and happy life before hand. And that is something Jamie Oliver has tried to make very clear. I really admire him for that.

I have been a veggie for 10+ years, and now a vegan for one and a half, and loving it. Just recently I got a phone call from my brother. Out of nowhere he told me that he had been vegetarian for a couple of months now, and that I was not supposed to tell mom or dad. I was touched by how powerful our example can be. He is an aspiring chef in Durango, CO, and this book looks as if it could steer him towards one day becoming a famous vegan chef...

My favorite is Nigella Lawson. I love (and share) her complete, unabashed, hedonistic love of food. And while she is not veg, she is respectful and has many recipes that are vegan or easy to vegan-ize, which is nice for living with vegans.

I live in New Hampshire on the Mass border, and with vegetarian and vegan options virtually non-existent, I was 'forced' to learn to cook my own food & eventually,I fell in love with culinary arts.I am now my favorite vegetarian chef - and trying to become vegan. I have much to learn and would truly love and appreciate this cookbook! I hope to open my own restaurant at some point.

I like Anthony Bourdain, I understand the 'beef' many vegan/vegetarians have with him, but I feel he exemplifies a quality all people should have and that is to embrace nontraditional foods. Many people that switch to a veg lifestyle have to over come the fear of trying new and unusual things(tofu? ick!). Not being prejudiced towards the unusual, a whole new world of culinary options opens up. You can only eat so many beans.

I once worked with a sous chef who went on to become a head chef at a cafe...he made the BEST grilled veggie sandwich with a dill mayonaise (I know, that's not vegan)- eggplant, bell peppers, carrots, etc. Wonderful!
I was raised vegetarian, and later started eating chicken and fish, but now I want to go back - for health reasons. I'm not sure I can live without dairy, so this cookbook interests me quite a bit - can't wait to check it out.

My favorite chef is Sean Kelly, who left the Denver restaurant scene a few years ago but is rumored to return. He is one of the few chefs who does not rely solely on butter and other dairy to bring flavor to his dishes. He is a brilliant chef who understands flavor and texture and creates with love. While he is not a vegan chef, he does cook vegetarian dishes masterfully and often without dairy. I hope the chefs in this book were challenged by not using dairy, animals and animal products and their tastebuds were rewarded accordingly. perhaps this will lead to a change in their ways...?

i simply adore madeline kammen..she used no-nonsense, common sense..i learned a great way to use all my "bits" of left over veggies, what she would refer to as "garbage soup". i save all left over veggies, freezing them in "baggies"..when there's a goodly amount, i place them in a stock pot, cover with water, simmer for a hour or 2, season, add left over grain and have a great pot of soup for no cost..i've been doing this now for over 15 years.

My favorite chef would have to be Jennifer Cornbleet (www.learnrawfood.com). I started taking her raw foods cooking classes back in 2002 - I had already been a vegetarian for 5 or 6 years, but I was one of those vegetarians that don't like vegetables - a grilled cheese and french fries vegetarian. But then I took a couple of Jennifer's classes and all of a sudden I learned to love vegetables.
Also, I had picked up a few raw foods cookbooks before taking her classes and they were all so complicated. Jennifer was able to make raw foods simple and delicious. Though I'm not a strict rawfoodist, I now practice a "raw till dinner" diet. My nutritional habits are a thousand times more healthy now after learning from Jennifer that vegetables are yummy! Thanks Jennifer!
So now I've been playing with veganism on and off for the past year, and hopefully a wonderful cookbook like this will push me to stay vegan from now on. Thank you for the opportunity to win this!

Even though there are several great vegan/vegetarian chefs in Atlanta, where I live, I must say that the best are R Thomas' (Peachtree) and at Harmony (Buford Highway). Both of these places offer a variety of vegan friendly dishes that are beautifully executed and delicious. R Thomas' is known for its' ecclectic foods and awesome atmosphere. Harmony is a vegan Chinese restaurant where you can get any item off of a normal Chinese menu, but vegan! While I try to cook vegan/vegetarian at home, nothing compares to what you can get at these restaurants.

It is always in my mind that this how I will help those animals that need to to saved or at least protected. Go vegan!

My favorite vegan chef is Claire Criscuolo, who owns and operates Claire's Cornercopia in New Haven CT. A trip to New Haven is incomplete without dining there at least once. About half of her menu is vegan and the other half is vegetarian and she makes the most wonderful desserts I've ever had. She is the author of several cookbooks, all of which I own and use. She also caters to gluten-free diets. If you're ever in the area, a trip to Claire's will really make your day. I've been going there for at least 25 years.

My favorite chef-in-training, is my husband - he is currently in the process of changing careers from teacher to chef and working hard at straight A's at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary College here in Las Vegas.
I was vegetarian for many years and he was happy to modify meals for me, but when I went vegan a year ago, the real creative juices began to flow! In fact, he took on the "challenge" with energy, respect, and enthusiasm. He even eats vegan food here at home because he is so talented at making hearty, healthy, delicious meals.
The joy of cooking kindled by his vegan experiments inspired him to finally make the career change to become a professional chef. He's talking now about opening a veg*n cafe in the future!
Even if we don't win the cookbook through this blog, I will still get it for him. It will be nice for him to read a recipe without having to modify it!!

Hello everyone,
I don't have a favourite vegan/vegetarian chef, though I am inspired by creative folk in general... Really, be inspired by flavours, textures, colours, etc., and you can make any recipe your own by adding a special twist!
In my hometown of Montreal, Quebec, there are more than a few deliscious vegan/vegetarian eateries. What I like most about them is their morphing into local art galleries, lounges, knitting and book club reunion halls, and music venues come evening time. Oh, and my favourite, above all else, would be Aux Vivres. Yum!

My favorite chef is, hands-down, Alton Brown. His unique blend of science, humor, and creativity into his shows AND cookbooks bring me back over and over again. Lacto-Ovo Veg myself, I find that the majority of his recipes are still veg friendly and I can make just a few adjustments to the ones that aren't. His tofu show is brilliant!

Cooking for myself as well as friends (especially those who doubt that vegan food can be gourmet... I love proving them wrong!) is a great joy of mine. I'd have to say, I am my favorite chef!

Favorite chef? My husband David, of course. It was his idea that we pursue a vegetarian lifestyle. And he did all of the prep work - like chopping, and all of the clean up, to make embracing this new way of cooking easier for me. This was 14 years ago, and he's still choppin', and stir-fryin' and cleanin' the dishes for us. We are now vegan (5 years) and he's still my favorite chef. Thank you

I have to say that I have many favorite chefs, but I absolutely adore Isa Chandra Moskowitz. I have been a vegetarian for the longest time, thinking I could never make the transition to vegan until I picked up "Vegan with a Vengeance" just to see what it was all about. Now I own all her books and cook only vegan foods in my house. Her recipes are so delicious but accessible, and made me see that it's not nearly as tough as I thought it would be to give up eggs & dairy when there is so much wonderful food out there to try. It's really not about what you're giving up, it's about the whole world of foods out there that you DO get to eat, and feel better about yourself in the process :-)

The chef at the Albert Park Deli in Albert Park, Victoria, Australia is a vegetarian cooking genius. It is by far the best place in the local area for a quick lunch grab and even to take home an easy re heat meal or a simply tip out on the plate dinner.
Other brilliant vegetarian resturants I have frequented are Soul Mamas in St Kilda, Victoria and 'Lentil as anything' in Abbotsford, Victoria. Lentil as anything at Abbotsford is beautifully located at the old convent (The outdoor dinning area is surrounded by amazing gardens) Not to mention the live music and performers that are also there for our listening delight.
So in short, Melbourne, Australia should be very very proud of its contribution to fine and diverse vegetarian / vegan cooking and selections.

I was a Vegetarian for 16 years prior to the last 2 years of my welcomed transition to my Vegan lifestyle. Vegan cuisine is infinitely diverse, delicious, and interesting. I have 2 favorite cafes, "Blind Faith" in Evanston IL, and my kitchen. Other favorite chefs - curious, creative, inspiring, new and experienced, live at vegweb.com.
The chefs at Blind Faith have a wonderful way with Seitan no-one else has come near. Their Mongolian Seitan dish is exquisite in taste, texture, and presentation. In my "cafe" kitchen, pasta is prevalant, but among many recipes I do have 2 favorite "Saturday Night" menus I just love to prepare: one is a comfort meal of homemade Vegan Mac & Cheese, baked beans, steamed broccoli, Vegan dogs, and a small side salad with raspberry vinaigrette.
The other is a Vegan version of General Tao's Broccoli in Garlic Sauce with straw mushrooms, baby corn, and thinly sliced carrot "coins" on top of jasmine or basmati rice.
Knowing how to cook, and cook well is not just satisfying - it's sheer fun! (especially when cupcakes are involved).
Life is Good.

I don't have a favorite vegan chef because I live in such a small town that if I want vegan food I have to make it myself. I do enjoy watching Guy Fieri on the food network because he has such creative ways of using spices and condiments that I find I can adapt his techniques (love the olive oil in the squirt bottle idea). I am always looking for new cookbooks because I absolutely love to cook for myself and my (non-vegan) husband.

Well not to toot my own home but I have to say I am my favorite vegetarian chef. O.k. well I didn't go to culinary school or even attend a home economics class in highschool but being in an African American soul food loving family who will not even try any thing that doesn't have a piece of pork or turkey leg in it forces me to experiment with my favorite soul food dishes excluding the meat. Some time it doesn't go so well but through it all every now and then I get something delicious and very rewarding. These scruptious experiments and hunger evoking experiments from the terrible ones lead me to try so many different cultured meals such as thai, indian, and even mediterranean. After I tried many of what these had to offer I ofcourse had to try to make my own so I can have them at my fingertip anytime I want. I have yet to make thai red curry successfully but OH but when I do every one will probably hear me shriek with happiness.

My favorite chef is truly myself. I love cooking and was a vegetarian before I met my husband. Then, I went back to be a carnivore. Recently, my husband passed away, and with time and reflection I have gone back to being a vegeterian, this time totally vegan. I feel clean, true to myself, and still creative as ever in the kitchen. For me, it is a spiritual journey as well as detoxifying feeling to be vegan. I was diagnosed with MS in 2007 and the vegan lifestyle is what will help me most with my disease, with my life, with my weight, and with my peace of mind. I am my own favorite cook, because I am...what I eat...and my karma is clean.

I second the comments about Eric Tucker of Millennium! His restaurant is phenomenal, and they have kept up the standard time after time, year after year. Exciting, creative, beautiful menus, highlighting the seasonal gems of northern California. His cookbooks are inspiring--challenging, but perfect for special occasion meals to pleasure veg friends and seduce the non-veg. Even hard-core carnivores have said "I'll go to Millennium any time."

My favorite chef is Thomas Keller from French Laundry & Per Se. When I went to the restaurant in NYC, I let the server know that I was veg and they assured me that would not be a problem with the tasting course we had wanted to order. It just impressed me that a chef of that caliber would be willing to create a separate menu without judgment or ego is quite frankly amazing in this time where being veg is often scorned in the haute cuisine world.

My favorite chef is most definitely my husband. Both of us have had to be very creative with cooking as 25 years ago both of our children were diagnosed with celiac disease, before gluten free recipes and products were so readily available. In addition, due to my health problems, we've had to deal with milk allergies, the need for organic foods, low carb menus, and now a totally vegan, alkalinizing diet as part of alternative treatment for cancer. Through all of it, he has been completely supportive and innovative in the dishes he creates as well as eating according to my dietary requirements - even though he'd much rather be a carnivore himself. He makes dishes with ingredients that he knows I'll especially like, transforms dishes to vegan form whenever he thinks there may be a food I miss eating, and frequently surprises me by having supper already cooked when I get home or serves me dinner and a glass of wine while soaking in a hot tub. When it comes to food, he spoils me. No other chef can compare.

Jamie Oliver is really a genius. He is far from vegetarian a a lot of his cooking, but he does often prepare vegetarian food on his show. He is the most relaxed and improvisational chef. He cooks at home, inside, outside, out in the fields, etc. He barely touches any measuring instruments, which is the easiest way for me to remember recipes. His manner of speaking, including his colloquialisms are pleasant enough to watch his show even if you don't care what he is cooking. He believes in local, fresh, and organic produce. He gets most of his food from his own gardens. He shows us how to cook veggies that we have never used before. He is also a husband and a dad (I think a dad), and he is just a blast to watch.

My favorite non-celeb chef has to be my fiancee. He's not vegan, but bless his heart for making TONS of vegan food for us to enjoy together! Nothing seems to light up his day more than to make up his own recipes and watch them turn out fabulous. Last week he lamented that the Food Network ought to have more vegetarian recipes so he'd have more inspiration when he's cooking for us. What a treat to be able to give him this book!

Hello
My name is Lucy I will be honest with you....
I am new to the vegan Life style. I have been watching Peta Tv, and my eyes have been opened after I have shed many tears. Actually I don't watch to much tv as I work long hours and have little time to spare. So I really don't know to much about vegan chefs. So right now I am just doing the basics of vegan diet. Alot of vegatables, tofu, beans and I am going to also do sprouts. I am still learning. I would like to learn more and I think winning this cook book would help.
Thank You
Lucy

My favorite chef is the chef of the new Lebanese restaurant here in Albany, NY. He is the real deal. Serving up freshly made hummus, baba ganoush and falafel. He also makes this awesome garlic spread which is nothing more than garlic mashed to a pulp and a little salt. My favorite chef is the venerable Jacques Pepin. His approach to cooking is just so refreshing in today's world of celebrity chefs and trendy cooking. He's all about fruit desserts and fresh vegetable dishes. He never let's anything go to waste--reusing yesterday's croissants for tonight's bread pudding. Nothing too time consuming or complicated. And he always has to taste that jalapeno raw before he adds it in. With a wine chaser, of course!

There are so many chefs to choose from. The most versatile that I have seen on the Food Network I must have to say is Alton Brown. He explains the make up and break down in a simple and at times comical way. I have learned a lot which foods are good and bad. If a picture is worth a thousand words than this book is the answer to "What DO you eat? My favorite vegan chef? Well, bookwise there are too many to even begin to mention; they are all so wonderful but my favorite vegan/vegetarian restaurant is The Quiet Storm in Pittsburgh, PA. I do not personally know the chefs but I know for a fact that they are my kind of people. They make the most delectable dishes, everything tastes like I would want it to taste had I made it myself. It is a vegan's dream. I feel finally completely at home in a restaurant. Pittsburgh is 45 minutes away from me. In my town, so few people even know what a vegan is let alone how to cook for one; they are ignorant enough to be disgusted. The irony. Everyone eats buffalo wings here! It is like being in some weird cruel backward place where I don't fit in or belong. (I'm sure they'll make a movie about it one day, I would like Natalie Portman to play me but anyway....) The Quiet Storm makes me want to move closer to The Quiet Storm. It is a truly a wonderful feeling to be amongst people who believe in compassion as I do in a layed back eclectic atmosphere, it soothes my inner hippie. The chefs there know what a vegan likes, what a vegan want's and how to make a vegan feel at home. They are my favorite!!

He is now teaching nutritious cooking to cancer survivors and people suffering from diabetes. His goal is to teach others that there are other alternatives out there, and vegetarian cooking can be both simple and, above all, healthy.

I like vegan chef Bryanna Grogan. She's an expert in cooking with tofu and different ethnic foods. I like learning about how and why things are healthful for the body.
Her website is a feast of information for the body, mind and soul.

Denis Cooter, owner of Cafe Paradiso in Cork, Ireland. Never had the chance to visit the restaurant in person but his cookbooks are great and he has a truly passion for vegetables. No wonder his "Paradiso Seasons" book once got the best vegetarian cookbook award from Gourmand.

my favourite cook is my boyfriend. Besides cooking the best four cheese sauce (normally i hate white sauces) and black beans he introduced me in Vegetarianism. I stopped eating meat more or less from on day to the other and thanks to his various cuisine i missed eating meat not even once :).

Diana Temple, who's mother was the personal chef for Grace Kelly, has cuisine in her genes and is one of California's rare green wedding sites, the Malibu Nature Preserve's, creative chef. I always found, when a chef is able to create vegan wonders and vegetarian visions and make people ask for more, he/she is a God in the culinary genius culture. “Diana” is the goddess of the hunt but chef Diana shines with vege’s made into the banquets of dreams. Thanks to her I can create a gourmet vegan wedding for 250 guests. What a cool PR for happy animals.

My 10 Year old one day decided that she wanted to be a vegetarian and God help me I have tried to make her some dishes she would eat. Its hit and miss mostly. If I don't win this one I'll more then likely track it down at the library and have her pick out what she wants to try and hope more of them will be hits then misses.

Well....I'd have to say my favorite cook is Julia Child. I love how she worked so hard to help the 'everyday woman' too feel like a great chef. Have to say, I just read Skinny Bitch.....and I'm going to try going vegan. I was literally nauseated reading what animals go through...and I'm a nurse!! This cookbook would be a great help to me setting out on a new front of cooking.....I love love love to cook and I live in the south, so this is going to be a HUGE change for me.

My favortie chef is Mollie Katzen. I've been a fan since Moosewood came out while I was in College. Over the years I have purchased her more recent cookbooks for our kitchen, friends and especially the children in my life. Pretend Soup is one of the best cookbooks for children and her art work is as beautiful as her food. I also love how her recipes have become even healthier as we learn more about food. Mollie makes it easy to prepare healthy and delicious foods, following her recipes have helped to give me the reputation of being a good cook.

Definitely my husband, who works at Seattle's Basque restaurant Harvest Vine. A number of items on their menu are decidedly non-vegan but he always creates dishes that are beautifully plated without a hint of dairy, soy or meat. I am actually still waiting to find a vegan restaurant that truly rocks my world. I was distinctly disappointed on my last two whirlwind tours of NYC vegan restaurants. Gobo was the best of the lot, but I would have expected more phenomenal options in the foodie capital of America. Portland has a ton of vegan restaurants that are good, but not especially fine dining — with the exception of Higgin's, that usually creates at least one vegan dish for each menu.

My favorite chef is Janelle Bloom, a food editor and stylist who appears on Ready Steady Cook. She loves desserts, and while not all are vegan-friendly, her enthusiasm and happiness is fantastic!

My favorite vegan chef is the lady at the local farmers market. I live in a small community that has no vegan restaurants, and this lady provides the best vegan treats that I have ever tasted. She doesn't take in so much money but i always like to support her endeavors.

I also despise the food network, but Charlie Trotter has my sympathy because he was the first chef to abandon those force fed ducks.
Did anyone try Red Bamboo in NYC and try the grilled soy chicken?! Outstanding. This restaurant is the best

I am so impressed that these chefs were willing to create some vegan recipes. I love to watch cooking shows also and world class chefs usually seem a little disgusted with vegetarians. My favorite chef to watch is Anthony Bourdain.

My favorite vegan chefs are the lovely staff at The Evergreen, a Taiwanese restaurant in Minneapolis (on Nicollet Ave. south of DT, if you're visiting). They will make almost every dish on the menu with mock meats (duck, chicken, beef and pork), and they use separate woks. My favorites are Three-Cup Tofu, vegetarian dumplings (in green wrappers!) vegetarian Won-Ton Soup, and Orange Mock Chicken. There's a lot more veg*n food in Minneapolis than you might think, but The Evergreen is one of my special "comfort food" places: friendly, family-run, inexpensive, unpretentious and yummy!

My favorite chef is hands down Heidi from 101Cookbooks. We seem to have the same taste in food and similar food philosophy. The photography of the recipes is fantastic, her commentary on them makes the recipes a breeze to put together and everything is so so delicious. I haven't been disapointed by a recipe from her yet.

It may not sound like anything special, but my all time favoite chef is my younger brother. He knows how to make all kinds of fantasticdishes using simple ingredients. He is mostly my favorite though because he will make things special for me because I have to eat diffrently from the rest of our family. He never whines or asks for anything special for it either.

My favourite chef is Stephan Gardiner of Fressen and Urban Herbivore in Toronto. He creates amazing tapas-style menus that are a true culinary experience. I have impressed every omnivore I have shared a meal at one of these restaurants with. He makes getting out of bed on a Sunday morning for brunch exciting.
