vegan_gourmet_chocolates%20copy.jpg

Hey, at least I'll admit to this little personality flaw! Alexis McKenzie :

I'm going to make my mom a delicious vegan breakfast! Some fresh fruit to begin, I'm thinking sliced oranges and strawberries, with some vegan pancakes to follow. A cup of coffee with a bit of soy and sugar in it will make her morning complete!

(And here's hoping she'll have a box of vegan chocolates to finish off her day with!)

Beth Mickens :

For mother's day I would love it if someone just cooked for me all together! Being the only vegan I have to cook for 3 different people a night and it get's so complicated! I have to cook my dish which is usually a vegetable dish, then I have to cook my husband his yucky meat dish and he usually eats my veggies as well, and then my toddler eats both of ours plus I have to make it a balanced meal for her by adding something else to prepare like fruit or a grain or whatever so it gets busy when I cook for dinner!
Overall it would be nice to have like a small three course meal prepared for me with a delicious tomato and cucumber salad, a main dish of marinated tofu baked, a side of sauteed and marinated veggies and rice or a potato and then a yummy dessert...anything as long as it's chocolate!! That would be nice to have on Mother's Day! But then again I can't complain I love being a mother and I love to cook!
The chocolate's just look sooooo good and then I could share and maybe convince people that being vegan can still be sooo delicious and such a treat!

A meal I would love to have on mother's day to celebrate my mom would be hand-made gnocchi (the original recipe, no egg!) and fresh made pesto with vegan cheese. Say it with me: YUM!

Gnocchi al pesto is the traditional dish from my mom's and my birth city, Genoa (Genova), Italy.

Jamie :

I want to treat my mom to a full on vegan tea, including finger sandwiches (perhaps tofu-tuna salad, cucumber with vegan cream cheese, etc), petit fours, and fresh fruit parfaits.

Kristie Davis :

As a mom and a mom to be I would love a dish with nothing but fruits and rice on it. I used to be non vegitarian and started looking into the benefits of not eating meat and what it can do not only do I feel better but so do my kids and on my 3rd pregnancy I have had less issue then I did before. I am in love with combining fruits ontop of white rice Im able to satisfy the sugar needs of the baby with the fruit ( she loves strawberries) and the rice as a good starch!

I would love for dear hubby to make me a yummy vegan shepherd's pie for mother's day! I love it when he uses marinated tempeh instead of the usual hamburger. This is a comfort food for me! The chocolates would make a perfect dessert!

Zoe Poeschl :

I want to make the lasagna recipe from Veganomicon for my Mom :)

Caroljean :

I think that the best thing that I would love for a Mothers day treat would be for my meat eating husband to eat some of the wonderful vegan delites that I make and not call it un-food for just one day. That would be the best Mothers day in the world to me.

The best Mother's Day I ever gave my mom was a vegan brunch. Within that vegan brunch, the best recipe I made was from Sinfully Vegan for smoothies that tasted just like Orange Julius! We were all in heaven drinking those. :)

Michael S :

I would love to get up early and make my mother vegan french toast and a tofu scramble. This of course would be followed with vegan chocolates and a nice bouqet of flowers!

Alice :

Every year for Mother's Day my dad would always make crepes and fill them with whipped cream and strawberries and serve them to my mother in bed. This year is the first Mother's Day since I became vegan, so I would love to develop a vegan recipe of strawberry crepes for my mother!

Heather :

I was thinking I'd start off with waffles & strawberries in bed.
For lunch; Pacific Rim Veggie Slaw With Orange-Miso Dressing and Tempeh Herb Sandwhiches.
For dinner mediterranean salad to begin, then either stir fry tofu & vegetables in ginger sauce or herbed tofu cutlets, with a side of my special spinach and herb stuffed mushrooms, and finishing with Ambrosia topped with chocolate shavings.

My mom LOVES my vegan tofu scrambles and vegan breakfast sandwiches since she can't have a sausage McMuffin like she used to, I make an awesome version at home!

Since I can remember my brothers and I would bring her breakfast in bed before church with a tulip picked from our front yard. I'm now 18 and my older sibling have moved away, so I'm sure she doesn't expect me to continue the tradition but I'm going to surprise her and do it anyway!

Laura :

On Mothers Day it has always been our traditions to have a nice brunch. One of my favorite dishes is a Citrus Salad with both white and pink grapefruit (use either fresh or canned as available), oranges (I usually use canned mandarin), pineapple (fresh or canned), sliced almonds (right from the bag is fine), and your favorite salad greens. Top it all off with poppyseed dressing. Yummylicious!!

Selene :

I plan to surprise my mom with some strawberry crepes in bed accompanied by roses that she'll show off on the table so it's the first thing guests see when they walk in. And then for lunch I'll make her pasta Puttanesca, she loves it, and whatever she requests for dinner. She deserves so much more for everything she's done for our family.

Daneen :

I'm the only vegan in my family and usually am the only one who cooks so sometimes I like to make vegan food and not tell anyone. Kinda sneaky but I love it when the whole family starts to eat and everyone says how good it is. Sometimes I'll tell my little secret and sometimes not. So for this Mother's Day I'm thinking lots of fresh fruit and muffins maybe even waffles. No one will ever know.

Kelly Ann T. :

We go to brunch at Sweet Tomatoes Restaurant. They have all kinds of vegetarian entrees. I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day.

Katie :

I can only WISH that someone would fix me a nice vegan meal. Being the only vegan in the family and not getting any support from the omnivores that live there, I am left to my own devices. Nothing would make me happier than to have someone surprise me with a nice vegan breakfast in bed. Fresh fruit, blueberry & Flax pancakes with maple syrup, smart bacon and hot organic decaf coffee. Yum!! And top it off with an awesome box of chocolates!! That would make my day!!

Karmen :

I am going to make my mom a delicious Fajita stle lunch. I saute' baby bella mushrooms, red and green diced peppers, frozen corn kernels and Morningstar Burger Crumbles in a pan and add Cumin, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Smokey Paprika, salt and pepper. I set this aside and in a large round non-stick pan spray it with non stick spay, I heat a 10" Flour tortilla, sprinkle it with a vegan shredded cheese, and cover it with a thin layer of baby fresh spinachand sliced avocado. I then spoon on the filling I saute'ed on half of it. As the flour tortilla heats up it browns on the bottom. When it is brown, fold over the flour tortilla in half. Cut in two and serve.MMMMM GOOD!!

Teri Begin :

I would love for my husband and son to make me a wonderful Mother's Day brunch - maybe a vegan grilled veggie sandwich with soy cheese and polenta, a light spring salad with an organic balsamic vinegarette, fresh fruit, and a fondue dessert, with vegan chocolate and yummy strawberries!

Nancee :

I recently just introduced my adventurous mom to falafels (which she loved & couldn't believe they were meatless!) and these chocolates would be the perfect vegan dessert, much better than the messy choc. chip pancakes I made as a small child!

My mother is 82 and there are six children in my family. Five sisters and a brother. Every Mother's Day Mom prepares a long list of chores to awaken the garden for spring. Four generations gather and we weed and dig and plant under her direction. We then sit down to tea. I am the only vegan but the love and support of my family is such that they all take extra care to ensure there is plenty of vegan food for me. Hummous sandwiches, greek salad made with my sister's special homemade tofu feta, lots of fresh fruit and vegan chocolate cake. One of my mother's delights is eating and sharing chocolates. She is constantly looking for chocolates that she can share with me. I would love to present her with a box of vegan chocolates for Mother's Day that we could place on the table and share as a family after a day toiling in the garden.

Maureen :

I would love to make a vegan brunch to celebrate the day... fresh fruit, big green salad, grilled veggies, bean and corn salad, and of course vegan cupcakes for dessert! Just spending time together is the best of everything!

Morning Glory Muffins are absolutely the Mother's Day food of choice... My sweet darling mother has held her own for 25 years against her 4 kids, all of us forever complaining that she prioritized health too much over taste in all her cooking... She has never budged an inch and I know that her love for nurishing all of us as well as she could was what kept her unphased and so kindly stubborn. On the flip side of this, it only took a couple conversations for her to become vegan at 52 years old because she saw how much I cared about it. She makes me these muffins right away whenever I ask because she knows I love them and she knows they're good for me! I love my Mom A LOT and would love her to try some vegan chocolates as she embarks on this new journey in her life!

Gillian Hunt :

Every mother's day since I was young, I have made my mother her favorite breakfast. It is always the same, swedish pancakes. They are similar to a crepe but not as sweet and a bit thicker. They are delicious and I know my mom appreciates it. I'd love to win the box of chocolates for her! Thank you

Gillian

Tracy :

I just would love my family to make me ANYTHING that is vegan! I am so darn tired of cooking, LOL!

Hilary :

My mother loves brunch and always made Eggs Benedict for special occasions like holidays and birthdays. On Mother’s Day, I would make it for her ~ in the past. After becoming vegan, we tried other dishes but I really wanted to find a recipe for a benedict with a similar tasting “hollandaise” sauce. I finally found a recipe (had to add a few things) and now make vegan benedict for her with tofu, avocado, tomato, vegan “Canadian bacon” and a special vegan hollandaise. I love providing delicious vegan treats so she realizes that vegan doesn't mean tasteless and she can go vegan too. She loves Sees chocolates so I would love to surprise her with cruelty-free chocolates that we can all enjoy.

I would love for someone to make me fruit salad, hashbrowns, and scones for breakfast!

I love vegan sushi, personally. The rest of my family and all my friends are meat-eaters, but slowly I am luring them into my world. I provide them information on not only the health benefits of eating vegan, but of course the ethical benefits. Living in the midwest, and having a brother whom owns a BBQ business, I stand out from the rest, but I can handle it just fine. I made vegetarian "ribs" the other day, along with a baked potato, vegan butter (Smart Balance Light) and a salad with vinegar dressing. Others tried it and were very surprised how tasty it was. Oh yes...little by little, we can convert people!
