'VegNews' Magazine for FREE

vegnews.bmp

It was a pleasant surprise when I received an e-mail a couple of weeks ago from VegNews magazine offering up a free gift pack for a contest on this blog. VegNews is the first magazine about vegetarianism that I remember seeing in "normal" stores, and it looked just like all the other "normal" magazines. Something about that was quite comforting to a vegetarian teenage girl (me). At first I didn't know any other vegetarians, so seeing an entire magazine about my lifestyle—and in full color with glossy pages, no less—made me realize that I was not alone.

That's exactly why I'm happy to offer up the VegNews gift pack as a prize to one of my lucky readers. The pack includes the magazine's signature oversized tote bag, six jumbo vegan cookies, a copy of the current issue of VegNews, and a one-year subscription! Entering is easy. Just leave a short comment below telling me why you deserve to win the gift pack, and I will choose the best answer. That's it!

Details, details: We will be giving away one VegNews gift pack. The contest ends on April 18, and the winner will be notified by April 25. And just so you know…by giving us your details here, we're taking that as acknowledgment that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy. And by commenting, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.

Good luck!

roxanne vitavec :

i deserve this vegnews magazine subscription because iv been vegan for a few months now and my family does not think highly of it. they tease and joke.. so maby having this magazine in the house will help to change there minds about animal rights, and i believe receiving this magazine will keep me motivated to stay a committed vegan.

Cindy :

I think I should win the VegNews Gift Pack. First of all, my family are brand new vegetarians, and are still trying to figure everything out. The magazine would help us out a lot there. Secondly, the winner will be notified 1 day before my birthday. This would make a wonderful birthday gift to me!!

Jenny :

I would love the VegNews prize! I am a new vegan, and am hungry for knowledge about the vegan lifestyle! And besides, those cookies look really really good as well!

Stephanie Smith :

I want as much vegan literature as I can get to help educate friends and family who think eating animals is okay.

I'm a new vegetarian, working toward vegan, would love a magazine with up to date easy recipes(I have old recipes books from the thrift store with ingredients I don't even know what they are)
thank you.
Kristina

Elizabeth :

I am a new vegetarian with the goal of becoming a vegan. At the moment I have no one that is a vegetarian around me except my on line friends. I quess it goes without saying I could use all the suppport I can get. Thanks for considering me. Elizabeth

Hollie Lewis :

I would like to win.

Jamie :

I don't know why I deserve the VegNews gift pack, but I certainly would LOVE to have it. The prize looks awesome.

Erin :

I'd love to win this because I'm a terrible cook and usually wind up eating peanut butter toast for every meal. I need some new ideas!

I'm sure everyone who enters deserves this gift pack. I'd love to have it because I haven't received a care package in over 10 years and getting a care package in the mail brings a huge smile to my face. :)

Sara :

So, I asked for a subscription to veg news for my birthday last year and specifically mentioned that fabulous package because I really wanted the tote and cookies. Unfortunately, I got the subscription, but NO tote and cookies. I don't know how it happened, maybe my family member didn't order it correctly. So I've been missing that subscription package since August. :(

Ruth Offerman :

I am a new vegetarian, soon to be vegan. I was looking for magazine subscriptions for info and came upon this site, Yeah!

samantha :

I would love to win the package because I am a vegetarian living in a family of meat lovers. This magazine gives me great ideas to keep going and all and all this just sounds lke a great prize.

Elesa Paschk :

please send me the magazine!

BethanyB :

I should win this gift pack because I'm a relatively new vegetarian (almost a year) living in a new place (Hawaii) where the most popular foods are Spam and white rice. It would be great to be able to not feel like I'm the only vegetarian here.

Jessica S :

I have been vegetarian for 9 years and I am transitioning to veganism. I love VegNews, but as a starving law student I have never scraped together the cash to subscribe.

Susan Drust :

Please send me veg news free

Kelly Patchett :

I would love the free Vegnews pack because not only do I love reading magazines that stand for something I care about but I could also totally share it with my animal rights group at school! [= Please pick me!

Abby Marolt :

I recently decided to convert to the vegetarian lifestyle, looking to eventually go vegan and have been researching vegetarian/vegan magazines and books. VegNews is by far the best read I have encountered. I would love to learn anything and everything that I can about this lifestyle and find this to be a wonderful catalyst. Thank you for your time!

Kelly Braun :

I've been a veggie for 27 years & have never heard of this publication until now! My 3 oldest children & my baby are veggie(all girls) and would benefit greatly from this awsome resource(espically the oldest- she's a freshman in college :-} ) I'm working on getting my 4 boys to go veggie- only time will tell. Maybe this can help!!! :-)

Maggie R. :

I'm fairly new to veganism. I'm trying to read and learn everything I can about it. I would love a subscription to a great vegetarian magazine. And, who doesn't love tote bags and vegan cookies?

Angela :

I would love to win VegNews. For my newyears resolution I went vegan. I love it, but it's very difficult for me. I don't know any other vegetarians in my town and I think this would be a great tool to help me continue down the vegan path.

Ward :

Hi Amy,

I think that I should win because I am a typical vegan male - huge fan of food, but massive fan of vegan junk food like cookies and I have a huge aappetite, so the 6 cookies would suffice as a nice appetizer for me.

I also am a huge supporter of PETA and hope that an Australian branch will open soon.

Regards,

Ward

Michelle Phillips :

i think PETA is one of the best things in the world. everything you do helps the world and that is what we need.

Carolyn Hoffman :

I am starting a new chapter in my life. I am getting treated for ADD, to take hold of my life, and becoming vegan, to take charge of my health. I am new to this and could use helpful tips from this magazine as well as an intro to the new culture/community of established vegetarians to give me an example to learn from. In addition, I am horrified by the truths about meat/poultry/dairy's origins and environmental impact. I would love to contribute indisputable facts and realisms, when asked of my sudden change in diet, to open the minds of the people in my life to the difference each of us can make in not only personal health, but also, the health of the planet.

box 83,akim oda,Ghana,00233, i need free magazine and cds,thanks.

box 379,akim oda,Ghana,00233, i need free magazine and cds,thanks.

Deena :

I just recently became a vegetarian, and I am still adjusting to cooking at home and learning how to cook. Winning this subscription would really help me with new menu/recipe ideas, since I am already getting tired of cooking some of the same things over and over.

Natalie :

I'm not sure if this contest applies to people residing outside of the U.S., but I think it should if it doesn't. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in a country that I'm still getting accostumed to, I could definately use a taste of home. Literally! The cookies, an amazing magazine written in English (not to mention with recipes I would be able to incorperate into my ever so interesting kitchen arrangement), and a great tote! It'd make my day...or year, being as thought there's a year subscription involved! :)

Lauren Fink :

please send me veg news for free

Angela May Bell :

I would love the free gift pack! My dream is to open a vegan diner in Portland, Maine to make many people happy and healthy. All the reading I do is inspiration and education toward this goal.

Beth :

Why do i deserve the prize...I would first love to have some reading material that pertains to my lifestyle since I am the only one among my family and friends that is vegan so being able to have VegNews would definitely help me not be so alone!! I love the tote..I am always carrying around some resusable bag to carry mine and my baby's random amount of things around and I would love to really be able to show off that i am Vegan! I really just want to tell everyone I see but i wait for the oppurtunity when someone asks why i eat the way I eat and then i am able to explain to them I am vegan and why but carrying a tote around that says VegNews will really shout it out for me too!! And I WANT a vegan cookie!!!! Those cookies look delicious and i wouldn't mind indulging in something delicious without any animal products!!!

rebecca :

I would absolutely head-over-heels love to win this gift pack since i've become vegetarian i've wanted to also be vegan.this is me,vegetarian dancer teenage girl who live in a small town with highly-meet eating parents. overall i think it took me 1 to 1 1/2 years to become a proud vegeatrian.long story made short, i wouldn't eat meat to save myself from starving to death i'd rather have fruits/veggies or tofu!thank you so very much for considering me.:)

Kelsi :

I love the site ... it was my "first vegetarian blog"! I am not sure why I deserve the gift pack, but as a new vegetarian I am trying to absorb as much information as possible about this change in lifestyle. (So far, I feel GREAT!) Oh and the tote is rockin'!

Juli :

About a year ago, I made the decision to become a vegan. However, making a decion is the first step. Although I've invested in countless books, this lifestly is not as simple as I thought. It would be awesome to have a magazine with monthly tips to help me make a permanent change for the better.

The only time I ever get to read VegNews is when I visit a Barnes and Noble an hour away from where I live -- but I adore it! Since my fiancee and I are a couple of college students barely scraping by, we would really love to receive the subscription to this inspiring magazine! Thank you for your consideration and all the great recipe ideas on this blog!

Alicia :

I reacently lost my mother to cancer just two months ago. I want to chang the way i eat and its hard coming from a meat eating family. ive been vegan since the day of my mothers death and feel great. my family thinks im crazy but after reading several books on how bad meat is not only for me but for the poor animals i am certain that this life change is for me. i would love this magazine to give me more support with my change and also cooking ideas to help me along the way. Thanks Alicia

tree frog :

well i am a vegetarian for 7 months now. i have obtained many vegie cookbooks and have lots of learning to do. i have never heard of your mag but it seems like it would be a great resource for me. i currently subscribe to veg times and i love it but sometimes the recipes are hard to complete as i have a very limited income. i live in northern MI and believe me!!! there are not many vegetarians up here. i need ideas to help me and also to spread the word to others i know that need some convincing that eating animals is not only bad for them but also bad for the environment. it would help if i had more actual info printed in a magazine so i could show them that i am spreading not only my words but words that are printed in a magazine that is produced and sold. it is hard to convince people in northern MI that we do not need to eat animals to survive so i need all the ammo i can get to try to educate people in a way that does not seem that i am imposing my beliefs on them but actually giving them information that they can use to make an educated choice. thank you

Willerick :

im a vegetarian for 1 years,,i need free magazine and cds, send me if you love me,,
thanks

Kaylaa :

Im new to being a vegetarian, by choice. I decided i wanted a change in my life style and the way our world treats these poor animals that should be able to live free and in a good enviroment. To me its more of taking a stand for what i, myself believe in. For me i have alot of animals and it hurts me alot to know and i have seen too how they treat animals. Tourchue. The way they are killed too(troat slit). Like it makes me feel great to have the will power to not eat these, living and breaking animals i love so much. Expecially horses. I think that horse slaughter should be stop immediately. Im trying to help put a stop to that too. But yah we need a change in this world, because at this rate we need to take care of this planet, because its not just my home, its yours too. So do u want to see the world go down the drain, or start helping in anyways like turning off lights, going veg, helping out at animal slaughter prevention organizations its all up too you to make a difference in the beautiful place we all call home.

abby :

Hi Amy!,
i was ecstatic when I saw that you are going to give away a gift pack from Vegnews. My sister and I have been vegetarians for more than a year now and we're eager to stay dedicated. i'm sure that the pack will help us a lot to achieve just that! I'm glad that a teenager like you is giving us more reasons to support vegetarianism.. Plus, the shirt looks great!!
PETA is the best!! Thanks and God bless you!

Olivia :

I'm dedicated to going veg!

meridith :

I'd love to win the VegNews gift pack because I'm a fairy new vegan - it will be one year by June. I feel pretty isolated in that I'm the only vegan in my family and I don't know many vegans in my community. Heck, I can't even find VegNews in any local magazine shops or stands! VegNews (those issues I have bought online) makes me feel connected to the larger veg community and keeps me informed on events, recipes, veg businesses and more. Oh, and I love ABC cookies but the closest place that sells them are on the opposite side of town and are usually stale, so it's pretty hit-or-miss.

Marisela Alarcon :

I came across the Peta.org website after participating in Earth Hour. Although Earth Hour was not mentioned on our local new cast in El Paso, Texas, I sent an e-mail out to all my contacts asking them to participate. After doing this I read about the environmental footprint we each make on our planet. To my surprise, an animal based diet has a major impact on our planet. From there I began to research vegetarian diets and decided to take a challenge to follow a vegetarian diet/lifestyle for 30 days. This all happen in the span of a couple of days. I am beginning to realize, as I am sure others are as well, that everything we do has an impact on our planet. By watching the online videos of tortured animals I decided that enough is enough. Ignorance is not bliss. I must educate myself now. Pretending animals are not suffering or we are not affecting our planet in a negative manner does not stop it from happening. My eyes have been opened and I am eager to learn more.

Thank you.

Angela :

I think I should win because I LOVE VegNews. I even applied for a summer internship (wish me luck)! I'm in the magazine business and am graduating college in May. I would love for my first job to be in a vegetarian magazine. I am also a vegetarian trying to stick to a vegan lifestyle, but with a family of all hardcore Italians, I get NO support. A life without cheese is no life for them.

Ellie :

After writing a research paper on animal rights in 8th grade made a very conscious decision to become a vegetarian. Now 14 years later I am still a vegetarian and a teacher. Some of my students are vegetarian and some are curious about it. This would be a great resource for my class and for myself. I am a firm believer that everyone is a lifelong learner, therefore need resources such as this to further grow and learn.

Leanne C :

I would really appreciate it if i could be the winner of the contest. I am a big supporter of peta and all that relates to it

Ashley :

I'm sure I don't deserve the VegNews gift pack more than anyone else, but I would really love to win it. I think it's awesome that this magazine offers such support to vegetarians/vegans.

Good luck to everyone else entering this contest!

Donnie Smith :

I feel I deserve the gift from Veg News because as a new vegan and African American I will be able to educate more people in my community and family. I think veganism is more then eating right and animal rights. Its about helping people understand better whys to live and the benefits of animal free diets.

sue labine :

My 11 year old daughter has been vegetarian for 6 years! And just helping shop and cook for her recently has convinced me and my 17 year old daughter that vegetarian and compassionate eating is going to be our choice too. This gift pack you are offering is a great way for us to getting started to a new way of eating and thinking. Besides which, we are both chatterboxes, so it'll be a no-brainer to tell our friends and family about how proud we feel for living this way.

Kelly :

I was a vegetarian for several years and have been a vegan for a few months now. VegNews has become an addiction. Sad thing is, the one place that carries the magazine actually stows it away in a drawer UNDER the magazine rack (I'll leave out the name of the store, but let's just say it's a popular chain). Every time I try to get my fix, I have to nag a salesperson to get it for me. They show me where they hide it an actually tell me I'm not allowed to dig it out. Oh, and my birthday is the 23rd, so that would be a great gift (hint, hint)!

I am newly Vegan and the mother of a 6 month old. I could so use this gift pack. I am so busy with my little one and I could really use the VegNews to help me learn more about this lifestyle!

Melinda :

I would like to win the free Veg News, because I would like to share it with my friends and family. My mom is halfway to becoming a vegetarian, and I think that if I were to provide her with information that is current about veganism and vegetarianism, I feel that my mom will have a more successful chance with going veg. I also have friends that I feel are already curious about my veg cause, and I am hoping that I could open some minds with a new copy of Veg News every month, as well as handing out all the delicious cookies. Those really are the best vegan cookies that I have ever had... I think that my friends and family should know how delicious going veg can be! I reallylove my friends and family, and wouldlovefor them to eat cruelty-free. Thank you. :)

becca :

Having the VegNews prize looks like it could be just the thing to help me. You see i've been Vegan for a year now and still my family AND friends can't understand why or how it helps the animals. They refuse to watch videos online or listen to some of the facts i say(they say anyone can put anything online so i shouldn't believe it) i'm hoping this would help. Thanks!

well, whoever gets it will be lucky indeed. i am no better than the next but i will say why i would like one. i just became veg again and am looking forward to having a healthier and cruel free lifestyle. i love reading and finding out new things about being veg and helping out the environment and those who live in it. i just started a social network group called green is beautiful (greenisbeautiful.ning.com) and i want to help promote all things that is healthier and helpful for all lives. i would love to have it simply because i would love to. anything to help me learn more and be more involved is a wonderful thing...

Heather McDonald :

I would like to win this pack because like many I have no support from friends or family. I also have several health issues that requires specific meals to get all the vitamins and nutrients. It would be great to have access to help on new meal ideas.

Kyla :

I'm not going to give you a long story as to why I deserve the magz, I want them because I'm a veggie!

Arrington :

I think that I should win this VegNews gift pack because I am a new vegetarian, by choice and I want to change my lifestyle. I want to be able to be healthier, have more energy, and stop other people from hurting our animals. I think that this magazine will give me more information and keep me updated on the latest and greatest of vegetarianism!!!

Jaimi :

Anyone reading this blog absolutely deserves this prize. After reading the comments posted for this I see so many people with amazing and compelling reasons why they should be chosen that I don't know how you will ever choose!! I would love to win the prize for the fact that I love VegNews and I feel it will help me with my vegan journey. I've been a vegan for 1 month and counting and it is the best, most exciting decision I've made. I'm so happy to see so many people expressing these very sentiments. We are all in this together!

Robert :

I believe I should win because living on the island of Guam, being vegetarian can be hard. Since becoming a vegetarian when I was 13 (I'm now 17), it was a bit difficult being a vegetarian on an island where it's a rare lifestyle. While I've been successful, I feel having the subscription would act as a monthly support, especially with the news updates and recipes.

Brittany :

Why I think I should win... Well, I have been a Vegan for 5 years now, since I was thirteen and I live in Northeast Nebraska(aka: smack dab in the middle of beef country) I have been fighting animal cruelty with protests and petitions since I first became a Vegan and still fight it today with protests and petitions. Every time someone finds out I'm a Vegan it pretty much turns into a very long argument on how its going to affect my health in a negative way. Everyone thinks Vegan food is disgusting and lacking in the proper nutrients. I've already proven some people wrong, but the more information and the more delicious recipes I have, the more I'll be equipped to handle all these "meat, potato, and vegetable" eating people!

Lyndsay Orwig :

I have been a long-time subscriber to VegNews with an expiring subsription coming up in about a month :( I would love love LOVE to get a free subscription for a year due to the fact that I am a very poor college graduate moving across the country to California!! I have read the magazine from cover-to-cover for the past several years and I can't miss an issue!!

Blythe :

I believe that I deserve the prize pack because I have been vegetarian 3 years and vegan for 4 months. I shared a similar experience as yours with the magazine when I first went veg it was sooo comforting to not feel alone or chained to tofu (although I do love it). I am always cooking for my family and I need good recipes. Also I would love the encouragement of reading the magazine on a regular basis not just standing in Barnes and Nobles..... Please pick me.

Dawn Berlan :

First of all, I never win anything. Ever. So, if by some miracle I get this veg pack, I would be completely surprised. Shocked, actually. Honestly, I would love to have a subscription to vegnews, because I love trolling for new vegan information and recipes. I spend hours searching out new meal ideas, baked goods, veg information, and support. Most of the time I dedicate to this is during work hours, so not only would I love this, but my bosses would appreciate it, as well! This would seriously allow me to allocate some more time to doing business-related activities!

Heather :

I grew up on a farm and as a result, developed a deep relationship with the earth and animals that has only grown over the years. Yet, when I was still a child living on this farm, I one day found out that we consumed the animals I loved so much. Once I realized that, it didn't take long for me to give up meat, even to the portest of my mother who is also my best friend. Although it put me off for a short time, I realized, it wasn't about her, and it wasn't about me (though I couldn't have morally continued to eat meat and live with myself) - I had to do it for the animals. Since then, I have been a proud vegetarian, and an activist, constantly looking to grow as one, and as a person through my choice(s), and ways to advocate these choices, hoping to help others change their lives for the better-as it definately has changed my life for the better. I am 21m and have now been a vegetarian for 8 years this summer. Winning this, would kind of be like a celebration of one of the best decisions I have ever made :) Plus, I am always looking for great vegetarian recipe's to cook for my family and to share with my friend(s). Either way, thank you so much for this site!! I am so grateful for this - I feel like I hit the jackpot!

Justine Coblentz :

I NEED this package!!! I am a vegetarian, and my family, fiance, and friends think I am crazy no matter what I say, or what I show them. I would love to learn how to cook yummy things so they can see how easy, and tasty it is saving the animals!:)

Niki :

I think I should win the gift pack because, I have been a vegetarian for 3 years, I am currently working to become a vegan. I live in the south around a lot of animal breeders and meat eaters. In my town, I am one of the only people with this lifestyle. True story. I would love anything to help me with putting it out there and everything else.

Kemah :

I would like to win this because I have just started to become a vegetarian and want to read on more ways of eating healthier.

I don't really mind winning but, I am more interested on how to actually get VegNews. Even if I don't win.

~*~Jessica~*~

Tara Hudson :

Im not sure that i deserve to win the gift pack more than anyone else, there are some pretty amazing comments here, but in the intrest of really wanting it here is my story. i was raised eating meat and always felt really guilty about it, i could never come to terms with killing other sentient beings for food when there are alternatives. i recently made the choice to follow my heart and became a vegetarian, i live with my life partner and her brother and it was a family choice that we are all doing together. in addition i have made up informational flyers about becoming a vegetarian for the sake of compassion to our fellow creatures and saving our planet from the harmful pollutants caused by meat farming, and i have posted them on the community boards at my school and my apartment complex. if i were to win your lovely prize it would not only benefit me but also my family and it would be a helpful rescource for helping anyone who sees my flyers and wants more information.

Bri'gette :

I LOVE BEING Vegan!!!! I LOVE God .. I love all the animals GOD madee, for US NOT to eat :) ~ Peace&Love never war!!!

ingrid :

Because I am vegan and I am literate.

Katie Fung :

Vegetarianism. A lifestyle that I am now choosing to live by. I'm a teenager of 14 years of age and at first, I wasn't a vegetarian at all, and to be honest...I still eat meat, but just today, my friend told me about www.meat.org and the video it showed. I went on the site and watched it. I was mortified! The video brought innumerable tears to my eyes. And these tears were not tears of pity, but tears of utter discontent and disenchantment. I had no idea that that was what all the animals had to go through to provide food for us humans. Altough I am a human, I now despise the human race because of what we do to animals just for our own satisfaction. And yes, the animals provide food for us, but what do we give them in return?! Death, thats what we give them and even before the death comes, they aren't even treated fairly and able to live a life that an animal should live. The torture that they [animals] go through, the inummerable hours of never ending pain, and just for what?! A smile on our faces? To take up place on our plates?! It is ridiculous to see that we, even though we call ourselves nice and caring, we are evil and dispicable for killing these poor innocent animals. And from this point on, I am turning vegan. Strict vegan because I do not, I repeat do not support the killing of animals for human satisfaction. I've never heard of this magazine until I went on www.meat.org, and as a begining vegan, I feel that this magazine with its many vegan recipes and and encouragement to keep me on track and standing up for what i believe in can help me and many others live up to my standards. And with the help of this magazine's motivational words to make a vegetarian strive to make a statement about vegetarianism; I feel that I am able to do the same wether it be in my school, my family, a local town center, or even the nation. This magazine could do wonders for me to help spread the words of the what the costs are to bring meat onto our plates. Animals don't have a voice to put out there and protect themselves, and that's why I'm willing to lend my voice to them and help them [animals] make an impact on this worlds food pyramid...and this magazine can help. I'm most sure of it, even if it only impacts a small minority, the minority is the majority if you give it a chance to get out there. Thanks for reading!

ANGILA UPRETI :

when i was a child i enjoyed no veg food but as soon as i sarted thinking myself about life of those animals i have been a vegetarian trin to be a vegan.i also inspire people around me to be a vegetarian

maryellen florentino :

I feel that i deserve this free packet because my decision to become a vegetarian was not an easy one. I wanted to, dont get me wrong and felt that the treatment of animals was wrong. But I was raised in a meat eating house where every holiday and family meal, meat is being served. Also, with a single Dad growing up, I basically lived off fast food and deli subs. Actually cutting meat out of my life, was going to be huge. But I decided to give it a try anyway, the more i read about the treatment of these animals the less appealing the meat on my plate looked. I know that by not eating meat the slaughter houses are not going to shut down and that animals will still be hunted for their fur. But it is something that I have decided to not be a part of, and that means something to me.

Marlene :

Hello!!

I think everyone on this site deserves this gift package, but I'll tell you why I want it: my younger brother (13) is thinking of following in my footsteps and becoming a veggie, but our mom is freaked out worrying about him going veg so young ("But how will he get his PROTEIN??"). Apparently my shining good health is not enough of a testimonial, so I would love to present my mother with this gift pack (I admit I'll keep a cookie for myself!) so that she can see how healthy, happy, and all around wonderful vegans are and stop hindering my brother in his choice! Thanks for reading and thanks for your amazing blog!

LeoLin Lopez :

I deserve to win because I been a vegetarian for 7 months and I am always looking to be educated on various reciepes and more education about healthy eating. I like to education the people in my family about and work about the benefits of a vegetarian diet for thier health, the planet, and of course the animals.

Jes :

I would love to win the veg news gift because I am going to school right now for health care, and can't afford to buy it!

Rebekah :

I would love to win this gift pack...I have never seen this magazine anywhere before but it looks wonderful! I don't know any vegetarians either, and my entire family is strictly meat and potatoes... and the potatoes are a rarity..so I get teased mercilessly! It would be nice to just be able to escape in my own little vegetarian world once in a while! Thanks so much! -Rebekah

Mand :

The veganized mac & cheese recipe in Feb's issue changed my life. I've been vegan for 1.25 years...but still get cravings for some of my old favorites. The search continues for awesome veganized buffalo wings! Your blog and veg news are great places to start. (Plus, it's 3PM and I'm sitting in my cubicle dying for one of those cookies! If only you could award me the prize now:))

Vickie :

After discovering that my 15 month old was having a reaction to milk (congestion, sleeping problems, breathing issues and so on), I did some research on dairy. What I found astounded me! From there, I branched out further and saw what was happening to those poor animals (ignorance is bliss I guess). I immediately stopped eating meat! Still working on cutting dairy out of my diet. I am now raising my son as a vegan. Unfortunately, I am having a harder time convincing my husband! I am always trying to find recipes that will help him realize that vegetarianism meals can be just as tasty, if not more so.

Shannon :

I have been a vegetarian for almost 8 years, and have considered going vegan much of that time. I would like to have a good resource of vegan recipes and new ones to try out. Seeing as I am in my mid-20s and am beginning to think about having children, I would like to start preparing my body by adopting a vegan diet before I become pregnant, and maintain it during and after pregnancy. I want to raise my children vegan for their first 5 years, and also want some kid-friendly recipes as well.

Maria :

I think I should recieve this gift because well i just turned vegetarian in september of last year. And I also helped my sister turn vegetarian and my friend. Even though my friends mom didn't really approve of me turning her into a vegetarian because she is really picky. I truly do love being vegetarian because I love animals sometimes I think I love them more than people. I thank my parents for supporting me and my sister in being vegetarian because I know not many parents do. But sometimes they seem to forget that we dont eat meat. Ive bought so far 3 cookbooks. I've also bought stickers, keychains, and tshirts. I plan to tell many people in becoming vegetarian/vegan.Because I cook for me and my sister. And last years thanksgiving I cooked was soo good! I bought online a tofurky it was really good. One day I hope to open a vegan/vegetarian restaurant and store because there aren't many where I live. Well if it was up to me, I would have given the gift to every one who left a comment on this page. But well its your choice who you pick. Hope you pick someone that really deserves it. Much luck to everyone!

I would love to win this gift pack!I have never seen this magazine before. it looks amazing! I don't know many vegetarians either, and my entire family is strictly meat... i get made fun of alot and my ideas are always challanged((their favorite is "its already dead" i hate that one!))..It would be nice to just be able to have my own vegetarian space once in a while!and my birthday is in april((im makeing a vegetarian meal and they HAVE to eat it)) it would be a treat! Thanks so much!~Rachel~

Susan :

Hi Amy,

If I was selected to win this beautiful VegNews gift pack I would "pay it forward". I would pass on the magazines after I read them, share the cookies (with vegan/vegetarian information) and hopefully enlighten friends about great tasting "peaceful food". I would pass on verbal information whenever possible when using the tote bag.
The only thing I desperately wish to see in my lifetime is the end of suffering for all animals/creatures. I would give anything for this to happen. I've found that people respond more to my example of living (not eating meat and loving all creatures) than listening to me criticize or attack their way of living.
Anyway, with that in mind, it would be wonderful if you could pick someone who could "pay it forward" (not necessarily me:) but the most compassionate person who has the hopes of influencing and educating others about becoming vegetarian and ending the very unnecessary suffering of animals. Thanks for your blog and the wonderful information you write about :)

Justine Hernandez :

I think I would be the best choice because I recently became a vegetarian and I am in college. It is very hard to come across Vegetarian choices on campus!

Janet :

I can't think of a better way to sway my family and friends into becoming veggie like me by leaving a great magazine on my coffee table for them to look through. Of course, the past issues will be put in the 'reading room' for more 'sit down' reading enjoyment! The best education comes from the written word...

I would like to win this because im a vegan girl and it would be great. I need some recipes :)

ali :

After watching one of the investigative videos on peta.com about one year ago, I immediately made the decision to be vegetarian. I cannot even explain the impact that the video had on me. I was an avid eater of all meats and animal products. Although I had been an advocate to stop horse slaughter in the past, I did not really even consider that what I was eating on a daily basis was coming from animals treated in the same, inhumane manner.. I was absolutely shocked to learn about the conditions of these slaughterhouses and the disgusting processes that the food goes through. Since then, I have felt passionate about being a vegetarian and connecting with those who share the same lifestyle and diet. I hope that eventually, as a collective source of energy, animal advocates will be able to at least cause change in the animal product/meat industry by spreading information about the health benefits, personal satisfaction, and ultimate purpose that one can experience by becoming vegetarian.

Elizabeth :

After being sick for the 5th time this year (mind you it's only April) i decided to take a look at my lifestyle to see if the root of the problem lied in my eating habits. After careful examination i realized that the food (meatm & dairy) contributed toward the breaking down of my immune system. I would like to win the amazing prize of a year subscription because it will guide me in the healthy direction of a balanced and nutritious lifestlye. Thank you for your consideration.

Erin :

I would love to win this gift pack! I'm 20, and have been vegan since September 1. More recently, I have convinced my sister to become vegetarian, and my mother has also stopped eating red meat and chicken. I bought my grandmother a copy of "Skinny Bitch" (the book that changed MY life!), but made a special cover so she or my grandfather wouldn't be offended by the title! So as she is reading "Menopause and You" (wink wink), she is becoming aware of all the health risks that are a result of the SAD diet.
Also, once a week I cook a complete vegan dinner for my mother, sisters, and grandparents, each time a different theme (Italian, French, Greek, etc.) and they love it!
I would love to have this magazine to share with them as well!

Ivy :

I deserve to win because I have only been vegetarian since mid-December, vegan since mid-january, and I am a single mom of two girls and the only vegetarian in the family--the only vegetarian I know. It would help to have the literature around, maybe the kids would read it, and maybe the cookies would convince them. Thanks!

Cathie :

I would love to have the Veg News pak (subscription) so I can share it with the many friends and associates I have who know I am a vegetarian (for many years) and are interested in heading in that direction. I am always directing them to the PETA site and giving cooking advice.

Corryn Kronnagel :

I should win because I am a brand new vegan! As of March 17, 2008, I have officially given up meat, dairy, eggs, etc. and I know it is the best decision I have ever made. I took baby steps throughout the whole process, giving up red meat first, then chicken, then dairy, to make sure it is something I stick to! I have found many yummy vegan recipes and am thoroughly enjoying the learning process - a subscription to VegNews will really help! Also, I am a first year law school student (read: poor!) and have become heavily involved with the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund. Through this organization, I have realized I can no longer turn that blind eye to the horrors of factory farming. It is an organization I will be involved with for the rest of my life and I look forward to helping them create new laws to have farm animals treated with the same affinity as our cats and doggies. Further, my meat-loving husband is now eating hummus and drinking Almond Milk - WoW! for that ALONE, I should win this prize! (This is a man who used to eat ground beef - RAW. EWWWWWWWW)
Regardless, thank you for being part of the seemingly endless support and information I am finding about my new diet. It will be a great ride knowing I am not alone!!!

Mary :

Good morning Amy;

I live in rural Virginia and what an impact this gift pack would have. It would help give a voice to all the cattle that are slaughtered right down the road. I would donate my copies of Veg News to my local library so others could learn the truth of this way of life and increase awareness of this phenomenal organization. The tote bag would be a great conversation starter and let others know that there is a better way... It would also let people know that one person can make a difference.

Mary

Tali Wilson :

So I guess you've already read this in the past 94 comments, but I've been a vegetarian for the past 4 years, and a vegan for the past 6 months. My familys not supportvie yada yada yada... But here are a few more reasons as to why I deserve to win, first off I'm 18, thus saving to go off to university, thus meaning I can't really afford any magazine sudscriptions at the moment. Next would be that when I do go to university, I'll be moving in with 3 of my best friends, which is awesome, but turns out none of them are vegetarian or vegan, infact they all have some intense love affairs with corndogs and mac and cheese. So we've decided that I would do all the cooking, mainly because I didn't want to eat corndogs everyday, and for a slightly more vain reason, none of us want to gain the old "freshman 15". So hopefully with the help of Vegnews, maybe we can avoid this situation, and hey, maybe my roommates will decide to read the magazine and change their attitudes towards veganism? We can always hope right?

Lauren :

Well I am currently the most loyal non-subscriber to VegNews they've got: This frugal girl receives (and makes good use of) their e-newsletter and will peruse a hard copy in a library or bookstore whenever she gets the chance. I can't imagine having a subscription in my name, but had I this privilege, I can assure you it would be shared among a small revolution of people!

Liz :

I just quit my job of seven years to be a stay-at-home mama. That means our income has been cut in half -- so not only do we not have the budget for magazine subscriptions, but it's more important than ever that I work on healthy, nutritious home-made meals to feed and fuel my vegan family. Plus, how cute would that t-shirt look stretched over my fat pregnant belly?! :]

rachelle :

please send me the free bag. i am just starting out and need lots of info.

colleen r. gray :

I have been veg for 11 years now (vegan for 8 years) and while my dad still tries to get me to eat fish and asks me if I think eating eggs will kill me, I have persevered. And not only have I gotten my brother to eat vegan chocolate chip cookies but yesterday, my birthday, I got my dad to eat tofu for the first time. Not to mention that I got my entire family to share a vegan birthday cake with me. Vegnews and delicious cookies would just be more weapons in my (quiet) war to bring my family over to my side. Go vegan!

Steph :

As with many of the other individuals commenting, I am a new vegetarian working toward becoming vegan. I am very good at being vegan at home, but struggle to gain support from friends and family. This makes 'going out' difficult because many social situations are based on eating (meat). I feel the magazine will offer support and an easy way to share with others the benefits of being vegan!

Kimberly :

I would love to receive the subscription! I recently read "Skinny Bitch" and it completely changed my outlook on food! I am slowly transitioning over to a vegan lifestyle. I have a husband and 6 year old son who are bigtime milk drinkers and meat lovers! By sharing all of my new info. w/ my hubby I have managed to switch him from cows milk to almond "milk" (quite a feat and still working on my son). My 3 year old daughter is a picky eater and loves her chicken nuggets. This week we are trying "chicken" nuggets. :) We are down to about 1 meat meal a week and I would love any new recipes and information that would completely cut out all animal products! Thanks you and please consider us! :)

Claire Wohlfarth :

I am a 15 year old vegetarian. I have been so since I was 14. I don't know anyone else who is a veg'n. I have found no support to back me up on being a vegetarian. I haven't become a vegan yet because my family and friends don't support me in that lifestyle. Maybe giving me the VegNews will help give me the support I need.

Christine Paiva-Stewart :

I just became vegan after almost 20 years as a lacto ovo vegetarian.
I would love to win this mag!!!!

Kimberly Closser :

Having spent the last year struggling both personally and professionally, my health took a very drastic turn for the worse. In response to the chaos, I became so wrapped up in the stress that I literally forgot to eat, dropping a large amount of weight from a frame that didn't need to lose any. Unbeknownst to me was how easy it was to slip into the realm of eating disorders once life settled down. When I realized the trade off--involuntary purging when I did eat due to the shock of food to my system to doing it out of habit--and the impact it had on my physical and mental health, I decided to take a drastic step and become healthy and wholesome, all in one step. I took the 30 day pledge on the PETA site and did a 2 week raw food fast to begin my new vegan lifestyle. Since, I have experienced such an amazing change, both inside and out. I herald the results to all that will listen and have even influenced some of my friends to take the pledge as well. The impact of veganism on me personally has been a lifesaver, both figuratively and literally.
Even if I don't get chosen, hopefully reading this will randomly impact someone else, letting them know that this small change in lifestyle can be a wonderful bonus in so many ways. Thanks.....
Kimberly

Alice Constantin :

I would love to be the recepient of this awesome gift pack. I just became a vegetarian in late January. It was a sudden change in my eating habits due to viewing some really disturbing videos of how animals are treated on the farms. I guess you can say I quit cold-turkey. I am very devoted to my new eating habits and try to find new ways of eating my veggies. I would love to find new more way by reading the VegNews Magazine. Thank you, Alice.

Brittney Mercer :

I deserve to have the Veg magazine because my parents don't approve of me being a vegetarian and I think that it will help. Whenever we go out to some place to eat there's always meat involved.
I struggle to gain support from friends and family. I would share it with my friends and family and hopefully be able to convince them to go veg! I have been a vegetarian for almost 2 1/2 and I'm loving not eating meat.

Kristin :

I believe this VegNews gift pack would be a great birthday present for me (April 16). Also, at my job during our lunch break everyone reads and they are always asking what everyone else is reading. Likewise, if I am reading a VegNews magazine, this is a great opportunity for me to talk about vegan living. I have even encouraged my boss to eat vegetarian meals occasionally! And the cookies would be appreciated by my husband!

Eric :

I want vegnews because I love being vegan and see no other way! plus I love edu-ma-cation! hooray!

Connie Muzzin :

I have always been a meat loving person until 6 weeks ago when my daughter asked me to view your web site while I was cooking dinner (including meat) that she did not want to eat. I have not been able to eat meat ever since, it was a live altering event in my life and I am now researching what I need to do to become a Vegeterian. I feel better and I have lost 12 lbs! What a sad thing it is, what we do to animals for food, furs and make-up very sad.

Erika J :

At the young age of 3, I made a decision all on my own not to eat "dead animals" or "baby birds" anymore. I had absolutely no idea what a vegetarian was nor did a know of anyone who was a vegetarian until I was about 15 years old. I'm now 24 and a vegan and I have spent much of my life defending the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. I come from a meat-loving family and a small city in northern Ontario where the vegan population consists of maybe 4 people. To say the least, being a vegan here has been extremely difficult. Having the latest issues of VegNews laying around my house has greatly helped to educate my friends and family. Not only is it easier for them to understand why I've made the choices I have but, it also makes them realize just how easy it is to eat delicious animal-free food. VegNews is a great resource as well as a fabulous eye-opener and it helps me to help others make compassionate choices. It is for this reason that I feel that I should be the winner of this awesome prize pack!!

Cheers,

Erika

Linda Runco-Magrone :

I am 58 years young-mother of 2-son 22yrs and daughter 18yrs. My now ex-husband left me after 25 years of marriage for a widowed woman he works with who's husband pass just 2 years ago. I have been a vegetarian for 20 years and almost lost myself completely. But my love of cooking & new veggie dishes kept me going-along with the strength and support from my children. I need to remain the person I have always been-a mother and a lifelong vegetarian. I work full time in New York-prepare all my meals(including my lunches) with the love for animials and their lives.

This gift pack would be a wonderful, welcome gift for me. Thank you for considering me and reading my note :-) Warmest Regards, Linda :-)

Jessie :

I think I deserve this free gift pack offer from VegNews because I am a vegetarian in a family of meat eaters.
I'm a 16 year old girl and I've been a vegetarian for 3 and a half years now. I still have a lot more to learn about vegetarianism, including the treatment of animals and health.
I feel as though I don't always get enough protein and it's especially difficult because when we have meat for dinner, I have to find some sort of protein that I can add in. That usually ends up being a veggy burger or kidney beans.

I would love to learn more about the animal-free lifestyles of other vegetarians!
I understand VegNews magazine also gives recipes and ideas for great vegetarian food products.
VegNews has the sort of information and tips that I am looking for, and need!

Thank you,
Jessie

Donna Falco :

I would love to win since my sister is a vegetarian and has been wanting me to convert..Aaaand...I've been sort of pushing myself in that direction. I have recently made major progress; no more chicken and red meat and also on exercise bike 7-15 miles a day. I'm an avid gardener and want to do more cooking with home-grown veggies. Thanks for great advice and MORE!

Roberta Guarino :

I would like this info because I am a Type 2 diabetic and have made the choice to deal with this lifestyle "medication free". I exercise, eat healthy - but recently have improved my diet with a vegetarian style of living. I have self educated myself and welcome all info on this choice I have made. thank you!

debra :

Hello, I think I deserve to win this VegNews gift pack because...well it is a long story. I am now 135 lbs over weight. I have lost 17 lbs since becoming a vegan 3 weeks ago. I am a sahm of 6 children whom I homeschool. We have had one rough year. After moving to Nevada last July we dealt with some serious family crisis..the kids and I drove around this state that we didn't know very well, eating out often- junky fast food to escape from the things that were going on in our life that was out of our control.. I packed on 30 lbs during those months- bringing my weight up to an all time high of 276 lbs. 2 days before Christmas my hubby lost 75% of his income.. He had to give us his office and work out of our home- thus disrupting our peaceful environment that we had built up while was at work. Then at the end of January he broke his ankle- requiring surgery to repair. We don't have insurance- so now we have thousands upon thousands of dollars of debt added to our bill pile. Hubby wasn't a very good patient..It took a while for us to get used to taking care of him and took him a while to get used to being laid up. When things calmed down a bit I was able to re-evaluate my health- I was a basket case and hated the way I looked and felt. Time for a change.
I read Eat to Live and dove right in.. I now drink 4-5 qts of green smoothies per day, am eating things like hummus and loving it! But I still have much to learn.. All of us are eating this way- healing our bodies as well as our hearts from our long year..Times are still hard but they are starting to pick up financially.
I am thankful for my husbands ankle healing nicely and the weight that has come off. I look forward to a future with my family because I am taking care of myself..
Thank you for this offer.

I have only just started my journey as a vegetarian and this would help me SO much! Nobody in my family (or my husband's family) is a vegetarian...they are all meat and potatoes people...and having this pack would give me the knowledge I need!

Anne McInnes :

Hi,
I would love to win these mags as I have been vegan for only a few months and need some info, big time.

There is only so much TOFU and RED KIDNEY BEANS one girl can take!!!!!

thanx

Chef Lloyd Itano :

I would love your prize and would do so much to promote Peta's and your website. I have been a gourmet vegetarian chef since 1971. I have been involved in Vegetarian Restaurants in The U.S., India and Japan. I am currently involved in a project to get celebrity vegetarians to endorse my project. And as a gift to you, I will cook you a gourmet meal if you are ever in So. California!! LLoyd Itano

Alison :

I would love to win this magazine! My husband and I have just become vegitarians and need help!
Thank you

Jazz Kovacs :

I would love to win this VegNews gift pack prize, because I pride myself on being a good vegan cook. I love to make yummy vegan dishes for my omnivore friends, opening their minds to veganism. I know this prize would give me lots of great tips, which I would use to spread the vegan word (more like vegan taste)!

Thank you for the offer.

Jena :

I think by winning this prize pack I could help inform my family as well as friends why its such a great thing to be vegetarian. It would be an awesome prize to win. :]

Sharon Korzeniowski :

I would like to win the veg. pack because my grandaughter is a vegatarian and i am thinking about becoming one as well. Also, I work at a Sr. Hi. school and think this would be information worth sharing.

Laurel :

For a long time, I never thought I could be a vegetarian. 15 months ago I took the plunge, and now I can't imagine going back to eating meat. Even after I decided to go veg, I NEVER thought that I could go vegan. But now I am seriously considering it, and trying to get as much information about the health, animal rights and environmental aspects as possible. I certainly think a gift pack from Veg News could help me with that, and also help show my friends and family (and roommate) that think I'm nuts see that being vegetarian/vegan is a natural, healthy way of living - that really isn't that hard to adapt to.

ellen :

i think i deserve the vegnews gift pack because ive been a vegetarian for almost a year and im an animal activist. also every pet ive ever owned has been rescued from horrible curcumstances. my best friend (and dog) was rescued from a couple whoe were going to leave her on the side of the road. my cats were rescued from a creek. my other cats were rescued from a barn where their mother had abandoned them.

Deanne O'Donnell :

I would love to win the VegNews prize. I just love this entertaining and informative publication. It gives me hope that I am not alone in my love for all things kind and that we are making real progress in our pursuit of a better world, especialy for the animals. It also gives me great ideas as to what I can do as an individual to make a difference. I make and sell prize winning jellies locally and donate proceeds to local humane organizations. It is my dream to share my wonderful products with noted vegan celebrities(like Moby, Pam Anderson, Joaquin Phoenix, etc.)and use their endorsements to help me sell my products on a large scale basis. My goal is to use the profits from the sale of my products to help raise money and awareness for animal and nature protecting organizations; and possibly start an organization of my own. Veganism has been the best choice I've ever made. I've never felt or looked better and it truly centers me to live a clean life void of animal suffering. I want to make a real difference in the lives of animals.

Ilana Rossoff :

I deserve this magazine and the gifts that come with it because I am a newly-converted vegan but also a freshman in a college with about three sources of food in walking distance, none of which are especially vegan-friendly. Nonetheless, I am empowered by the cause and not only feel healthier and more pure but know that I am saving lives everyday. Having the magazine subscription would allow me to hear from people outside my limited community, where vegans are very very few in number, about our common lifestyle and also help me make decisions that can ease my inconvenient lifestyle. And I love vegetarians!!!

Daneen :

What an awesome give away. I have purchased the magazine a few times and have really enjoyed it. I'm a vegan living with two omnis. I've been slowly introducing them to wonderful vegan food and making them aware of the whole vegan lifestyle. Receiving the magazine on a regular basis would be a good reminder for them and a good educational tool.
Thanks for the opportunity.

Daneen

Tikisha :

I would love to win it because I have only been a vegetarian for a little over a week now and am feeling great but am also getting stuck. It is odd, my husband and his mother grew up vegetarian yet I am the only vegetarian in our family. Almost my entire family would be perfectly happy living on the atkins diet for the rest of their lives...god forbid they eat some vegetation. I have even seen some of my family members consume 5lb steaks. I just feel lost and would love some sort of support mechanism. I feel like my part of my family would even uninvite me to family bbq's for this. :o(

Catrina :

I finally came across the PETA website and it changed my life forever. I never knew about how animals are being treated. It always seemed wrong to be eatting meals with meat ever since i was little. i now realize i have a choice. Once i have discovered PETA and started to learn so much new information, i showed my husband information too. Right away he joined me in living meat and cruliety free. I would just love to win this subscription. I feel it will continue to open my life to many more doors which i can spread to fellow friends. PETA is fantastic. I do not have much money to invest into buying subscriptions to many thing that i would love to subscribe to. Winning this would make me so happy and would have a huge impact on my life and the people in my life as well. Thank you for this amazing offer.

Caroline :

I deserve this give way becasue even though I am very new to being vegan I am very passionate about it. I am a senior in high school and am very interested in one day being able to educate other on becoming a vegetarian or vegan but I myself don't know all the fact yet but i am very willing to learn and I belive this magizine will help me learn.

Kathlyn Reed :

I think I deserve to win the VegNews prize pack because I am writing my senior thesis on Vegan culture, both modern and historic, and a subscription to vegnews magazine would be a beneficial window into contemporary vegan culture!

jamie young :

I would love to win, I recently became a vegetarian, and kindda converted my whole family. I just want us to be healthier, and I can't stand the thought of hurting little animals for any reason. I just think it would be nice to win and be able to help my family understand a little more about why being vegetarians is important, not only for our health, but for the health and well being of the planet. and it might also help us better explain it to our friends, and maybe get them to be more aware of what they will or will not eat. thanks.

karissa claflin :

Being vegetarian for about 3 years
i have come to relize that in my town there are alot of vegetarians and stuff out here. But on the flip side there are alot of meat eaters out here too. so the random sticker on the meat at the walmart mini-super center sayin go get veggies isnt cutting it out for the 99% of meat eaters with unchanging ways.the posters everywhere with cuddly animals and fliers abound they still say there arent enough vitamins in other foods than meat so im thinking i just need to get a bigger word out there. after i conquer the kfc and the candy bars i want to conquer the world. no but this magazine i will go out there with it and make people understand that not only eating meat is killing animals but its killing the human too. there are vitamins in other foods and substitutes for every dead thing out there. who doesnt like free stuff. lol
thank you
karissa. one hundred percent sure that the world will not end with humans still eating meat after im done=]=]

Lucila :

I have been a vegetarian for more than eight years. I deserve Vegnews cause I'm from Argentina: a country known for it's meat lovers...Little by little, people are getting conscious, but it is a slow fight.
I love gathering material to show my friends.
Thanks.

Lynn Ann Matthews :

I am a new vegetarian and I have no clue where to start. I would love this. I just want crulity to animals to stop and i want to get off to a good start with my diet. My family is not agreeing with my choice because we are on a fixed income, but if I can whip up a few yummy meals I hope to change there minds!

mgu :

Why?
Well, for many, many reasons!
One of them is to learn more and discover new material to read and... to eat!
An other one is to help out my boyfriend, who is vegetarian when he's with me (I'm vegan)and somehow cannot be fully convinced.
Another is to help an starting friend who is left alone in a not very vegetarian friendly country, so he asks me stuff.
And well, my parents (from that same country) have started a "my grandchildren will eat meat" campaign already... and I'm only 21. In a whole years subscription I might find better reasons to calm them down.
I could go on for ever...
I would just make as much of it as I could.
Thanks!

Karl Meinhausen :

Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, VegNews is free at last!"

Carol :

The vegan diet is very new to me. My brother and sister-in-law visited me for two weeks and introduced the diet to me. I had been having some colon problems prior to this. But, while on their diet I never had one problem! Now I want to learn more. Thank you for considering me for this contest.

Taylor Wagoner :

Hi, I would LOVE to win the VegNews gift pack. I am a newbie vegan as of October 2007 and I'm also a VegNews subscriber. Being a new vegan I like to read everything I can get my hands on to educate myself and my family and friends. I am very proud to say that my boyfriend and my mother are now vegetarian and are on the road to becoming vegan! I share all the information I can with them and make delicous vegan meals to show them they do not have to consume "anything" animal. And last but not least, it's my birthday! So this would be a great gift. Thank you!

Sincerely, VeganTay

natasha martinez :

I believe that I should win this gift pack, because of my great love for animals. Not only do I have a great love for them, but I also believe in being walking advertisement. I want people to have the oppurtunity to see how being a vegitarian and being part of peta betters the world. I love animals so much that I'm actually starting my own buisness in hopes to create a bigger buisness dedicated to having a home for animals in the humane society. It would be my honor to wear the tote and promote the company...but also to learn more about being a vegetarian and sharing the knowlege with the people close in my life.

Jess :

I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be even considered to win such a gracious gift. I believe I deserve this free gift is because I am an infant in being a vegan and I need ideas on how to cope with the changes. I once was with my entire family was an extreme meat-eater. I chose to change this lifestyle because I believe change starts with one person. I am the only one who has made this choice out of everyone I know. I would love to inspire them to make this great life altering experience. Thanks.-Jess

Angela Dillon :

I deserve to win- I have been vegetarian for many years and need help with cooking to completely convert to veganism (the only thing non-vegan I eat is free-range eggs). I especially want to make meals my husband will eat so he becomes vegetarian. My daughter and I have also managed to convert a number of people (or at least raise awareness of cruelty around farming of animals) to vegetarianism. I could go on....

Gayle :

I am part of a small volunteer force that operates a no-kill pet shelter. We live in Northern Alberta, where we are ridiculed for our dedication to pets, but also for being vegetarians. (I guilted another volunteer into giving up corpse!!) We fundraise constantly, but are always coming up short. I am the 'crazy cat' lady, and often need to use my own money to buy litter, food and cleaning supplies. To win this prize pack would be very nice as it's not something that I can get for myself at this time, but I'm sure whoever wins will be very deserving just for being a vegetarian. Thanks.

Jessica M :

I think i deserve this package because i have just become vegetarian and i feel completly alone, my friends and family critisize me because of the decision i have made.
I also have no clue what to buy to eat. If i receive this package i think it will provide some pointers that will help me feel accepted and not alone.

Laura King :

I believe that I should win because I am considering becoming a vegetarian, but I'm not really familiar with everything involved. I believe that the magazines will help give me tips and information that I need, in order to get started. I also am in school to be a dietitian, and I think it would benefit me to learn as much as I can about vegetarianism/veganism, so that I will be able to help any of my future clients live this lifestyle or who are interested in it.

LAW :

Hi, Am interested in finding new ways to eat. Vegan sounds interesting.

Vickie Couturier :

Im just starting this phase of my life an trying new things,so this is a good start for me,Doctor told me to cut out certain foods an this would give me a good incentive to start

Betty Mordecai :

I was vegetarian before there was such a thing.

amie :

hi
i decided to become a vegetarian at the age of 8 (my own choice). seven years on and i'm still going strong, im just starting my GCSE's and taking food technology, there is a vegetarian course. i think this prize would give me great motivation and a key resource for my studies. this sort of oppertunity is too good to pass up. wish me luck!

Kali :

I deserve to win this awesome pack! I have been vegan for 2 months now, and it has been a very difficult transition. My husband is somewhat supportive, but he doesn't like to talk about 'vegan stuff' with me. So far I have not met any fellow vegans, so when I can pick up the new issue of VegNews or find some cool vegan treats and curl up on the couch it is serenity in my lonely world. Please consider me as the winner!

Deb :

I am a vegan, I love cooking and baking, and I am always looking for new recipies. The rest of my family isn't vegan, but they are starting to like the vegan things I make. They like it so much they have their friends try it too, and they Love it! So help me, help you make this world a veg friendly place.

Patricia Schraier :

We've been slowly switching to Vegan for a long time. We've gotten as far as vegetarian and are looking at the next steps.

Nicole Mussa :

I would love to win this, for my mother. She originally stopped eating meat because it made her physically sick, and eventually lost her taste for it. She also developed an intolerance for wheat products, and she is having a lot of trouble adjusting to her new diet. I try to help her find healthy vegetarian recipes that also contain no wheat/gluten, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gwen :

I've been a flexitarian "bring-your-own-bagger" for over twenty years now, and it amuses me to see so many stores suddenly selling their own reusable bags with their store advertising on it. Now, If I'm shopping at Trader Joe's, am I going to influence other Trader Joe's customers to shop at Trader Joe's because they see the name on my bag? I think not. If I'm going to be a walking billboard, I want to advertise something useful that, just maybe, the other shoppers didn't know about before. And VegNews definitely deserves to be seen, whether or not you decide that I deserve to be the one to carry their logo.

jenny :

Please pick me

CAROLYN :

VEGAN ME!

judy brittle :

would love to win this. my daughter just moved back home with my 2 grandchildren and she wants to convert me to be vegetarian. this would be a fantastic start.

Julie Webb :

I work in a hospital setting and you would think that all my fellow staffers would be knowledgeable about health and vegetarianism. I have been an inspiration to many of my fellow workers to the awareness of vegetarian living. Knowlege is power!

Why should I win this, well for starters I am the only vegetarian (making the transition slow and steady to being vegan)in my family both immediate and extended. I think that with my feriocious appetite for knowledge on being a vegetarian/vegan, and then arming myself with that (and the prize) might really start to get my family's attention and interest into converting to the "Green side" of things. I love and care about them, and of course want them to be healthier, happier, and aware. My biggest goal is to start raising our (my hubbie and i's) 20 month old son as a vegetarian, like any mother I want to give my little one the best of life, and teach him to really love and appreciate our planet, i can't think of a better way than this. The more I can convince, the more supporters we have "at bat" for both our animal friends and our planet.

Janene Grace :

Hurrah! my kind of contest!! Count me in please.

Joecelyn E. :

I would love to win the Veg News Gift Pack!! I became a vegetarian after plenty of research on the cruelty of animals, I wish that I would have known all that sooner. Being of Mexican ethnicity, it is not in our culture to eat this way. I was brought up with meat meat and more meat. When I told my family of my new way of living, I was mocked and pretty much laughed at. I talk about it all the time to try to convert my family and others that I know, but it seems that no one cares as much as I do. I would love this subscription so I can relate to others and learn more and more about it, and make people aware. It is not easy being vegetarian...but man is it worth it!!! Thanks for the consideration!!
:D

danielle jackson :

I would love to win the vegnews subscription! I am the only vegan in my family but at only 14, becoming a vegan was a HUGE decision for me. I love animals and I am a hige supporter of animal rights. I feel that eating something I love would not be right. Animals are like people in everyway! I dont know how someone can abuse an animal and have no guilt! I preach to everyone at my school about animal cruelty, how wrong it is, how we can prevent it, and how we can speak up for our four-legged friends! being a vegan for 4 months I feel I am making a diffrence. Sure I am not making cruelty at farms and slaughter houses stop ,but I am not contributing to it! These animals waiting on death row to be killed for human consumpation, were born into this world, not asking to be abused, just wanting some attention and love! My decision to become a vegan was the best decison i have ever made! I will never regret the day I gave up animal products! For all you people working a PETA god bless you!!! You are all making a great diffrence in the lives of animals, and I thank you for that!!!

Rose Ryan :

Hi i have lots of food alergies and have just become vegan to help and this pack would be a great starter and help in gaining a better healthy life style for me.

Nathaniel :

I've vegetarian, and I need some new ideas about some cheaper, new food to eat, because my mom doesn't like paying crazy prices for Boca or Morningstar Farms.

And it will give me new ideas for dishes to bring to our Animal Rights meetings. =D

Rocio Rodriguez :

As a new vegetarian, and an animal activist for my whole life, I would love to win this contest. I have noticed that information given about vegetarianism has become easier to obtain in the past couple of years, but I would still love to have support. Showing that I am proud to become a vegetarian and that I am taking this seriously with all the goodies offered by this contest might help my chances of winning over my peers and might even help me persuade them to the green side of life. I'm actually not sure why I deserve to receive this gift package, but, I believe that getting this package will help me keep up with my vegetarianism and self-esteem. - Proud and Light as a Vegetabletarian, thank you

Sara Ott :

I think I should win the gift pack because I have been vegetarian for almost two years now and I'm working on going vegan. It is a little difficult so I would love some help and I think a one year subscription to the magazine would help a lot! Also, the people I live with think it's weird that I'm vegetarian so I leave blogs that I write sitting on the table for them to read, a magazine would help to!

Melinda :

I have recently made the lifestyle switch to veganism, and because I LOVE cooking, and ofetn do for my family, I was able to convince my mom and sister (and even steak-loving dad) to significantly reduce meat consumption in our house. My mom and sisters may even become vegetarian, and I'm thrilled!

...My new May roomates, now there's a tougher nut to crack! Two of my closest friends, and two of the most meat-loving kids I know. I don't want to enforce my views and create tension, and I don't expect them to change completely. But I want them to understand my views at the same time! I feel having resources around the house such as vegan magazines would be a way for them to get exposed, instead of having a ranting nag sitting across them at the dinner table :). Plus, the fresh inspiration each month would inspire me to suggest more animal-free meals. Thanks for the consideration!

Tisa :

I would love to win this prize pack as my youngest daughter (12) has strongly been suggesting that she wants to be a vegetarian. I'm honestly quite confused at even where to begin or how to help her. Thanks! ~ :)

Megan :

Hi. My names Megan. I'm a fourteen year old, and I just became a vegitarian about 5 months ago. Me and my two best friends were searching the internet for interesting stuff and were curious about the whole vegetairan thing. So we searched animal cruelty and came up with peta website. We watched almost all the videos they offered on the site. [ its a great organazation by the way] Afterwards me and my friends VOWED that we would not eat meat for the rest of our lives. Since then we have been completely vegetarian and not a single microscopic piece of meat has touched our mouths. =] For the past five months we've been researching recipies and trying out new vegetarian meals. We love cooking, and being able to eat or meals makes it even better. =] I would love to have your gift pack for me and my friends to create many more amazing vegetarian meals, and perhaps share them with friends so they will take into consideration our no meat policy.
Sincerely- Megan

ps. I LOVE LOVE LOVE vegan cookies. =] yum!

Amber :

Ok I know there is a million reasons why I deserve Veg News but I honestly can't wait for you to find a winner so I am going to order this membership on my own. I want it now! IfI do win anyway I will donate my free subscription to my local library.

Babalu :

I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian and would like to be a vegan. Thanks for the contest.

Guilherme Paraiso :

great stuff!

Hi! I read the other comments and don't know what else I could say but I guess I will try my best to show why I would also LOVE to win. I recently decide to jump in headfirst into a vegan lifestyle and I am thrilled with my decision. It is something that i think has always been in my heart to do. I am extremely compassionate about animals and feel an inner sense of complete satisfaction knowing how my step is helping with animal welfare in some part. I have my mom and sister who are complete vegetarians slowly trying to convert to vegan and my husband has become at least 60% vegetarian and eats my vegan meals for dinner always. I am so excited to try new recipes and love every one I have tried so far. This win could really help me learn new recipes to help convert my family and hopefully everyone I can talk to. We are newlyweds and on a strict budget so I HOPE TO WIN VERY MUCH!!!!
Yours Truly,
Anaiah Julsrud

Kala :

I need this pack, because I have decided to not eat meat. I have always LOVED Animals, but now I see why I need to not eat them. I need this because It will really help me start on my healthy, meat-free Journey!!!

Please pick me!

Anonymous :

I READ THE OTHER POSTS AND THEY ARE ALL GOOD REASONS.I'M JUST SELFISH AND GREEDY AND I WANT IT. I LEAVE MY MAGS IN THE DOCTORS OFFICE AND THE LIBRARY AFTER I READ THEM. I CERTAINLEY WOULD ENJOY THOSE COOKIES!!
THANKS.

Bobbie :

pick me! pick me!

Susan Landgrebe :

I would absoultely love the VegNews Gift Pack. I have just recently become a veggie and could not be more happier with my decision. I have only been a veggie for about two monthes now and need all the information I can get on nutirition, food receipes, and how to live a healthy, veggie lifestyle. Not only would this benefit me, but would be amazing to have as I continue on my journey to being a Vegetarian. Go Vegetarians!!!!!!!!!!!

Natasha :

I think I deserve this awesome gift pack since it's not sold here in Winnipeg where there are hardly any compassionate vegans like myself. I became a lacto-veggie since I was 12yrs old and at 19 I went vegan. Also the only cookies that I can even find at stores that is vegan and taste great is oreos so I would love to try some of the yummy looking cookies in the prize pack. It 's not easy finding vegan goodies here. And after I read the magazines I would donate then to the thrift store that I live across the street from and who knows maybe some people will go vegan from reading them.

:)

Elizabeth (for Mom, Diana) :

My mom needs all the help she can get. My mom is on a strict raw-vegan diet that has so far put her stage 4 breast/bone cancer into remission! I live in Florida & she in Ohio. As the sole support system and newly fellow vegan, we can only share recipes and support via phone. I wish I could be there, as my family is vegitarianly challeneged which dumps a lot of pressure on her to watch everyone else enjoy their meat 'n potatoes. She has only slightly fallen off the wagon (to my knowledge)but I want to show her that there are several tasty options for her & her health that won't leave her envying the old eating ways she has left behind. Please send my mom this magazine so she won't feel so alone and knows that there are others who make it work and still enjoy life. This would make an excellent mother's day present. Thanks!

Caroljean :

I think that the exchange student that is staying with me for her 10th grade school year should win. Why, because she has always wanted to be vegan and I am helping her to learn how. There is not any information in her country about animal rights and she wants to change that. The program that she is here in the US on is the FLEX program for future leaders through the US government. The US government sponsors High School Students from former Soviet Union Countries. I think this would help spread the information about animal right and better ways to eat.

Nicole :

I think i should win because i need more info and veg recipes, im a little more newer to this, maybe 3 months ago i watched some video on meat.org, I couldn;t even watch the whole thing, but its hard to think of new recipes and ideas of what to eat and how to help other people realize the abuse theses animals go through just for someone to eat a burger....its insane, and should be stopped, people can get there protein from peanut butter or something, I really think its an awesome thing to be giving away this prize, its like carrying the message, thanks

keith james :

i need knowledge

jennifer :

Well, I have become deeply concerned about animal rights ever since finding out more info and seeing videos of how cruel our farm animals are being treated. Watching these videos has changed my life and I want to spread the knowledge and make every one aware of what is going on! This issue has made me want to be dedicated to be the voice for those without (animals). I am a therapist and help humans feel better about themselves, overcome addictions, and have better relationships. I feel that my empathy for others needs to transcend from including human beings to all beings. Plus, I have a wonderful, loving, adorable kitty who has helped me understand profoundly that one hasn't loved until they have loved AND EARNED the love from an animal!

Emily :

I deserve to win the VegNews prize as I'm a college student, who is just starting down the path of veganism after being a vegetarian for a couple months. I would love to have a source to get more information and recipes so I could gain more knowledge. Also those vegan cookies look pretty delicous:)

william watkins, Sr. :

let me win

hetal gandhi :

I am a born vegetarian and I would love to have this prize pack.

gretchen :

I deserve vegnews mags because i have been living a vegan version of survivor for almost three years now! I have been living in remote Sicily with my vegan husband and our vegan son, along with our new baby on the way! My husband is stationed here in the U.S military and i have not seen a health food store, vegan cheese, or vegeanaise (along with many other items) the entire time! I need this magazine to reaquaint me with what's new in the world of vegan because we are leaving here next month and heading back to America! thanks!

Jenny :

I would like to win this package because where I live there is not much information or help with being a vegetarian. So far only my fiancee is supportive of it, my friends are slowly warming to the idea and my family thinks I've cracked. I've been a vegetarian for a short while and would love more information, meal ideas and support along the way. pick me please!

Emily :

i have been vegetarian since i was nine years old, and i am currently in the process of becoming vegan. My family is not vegetarian however and i would like to be able to find good recipes to convince them that vegetarian food tastes just as good as meat ones. I am also trying to become vegan and would like to find some good vegan recipes as well.

Hi! I deserve this pack because I care very much about animals. I've been a vegetarian since age 12, and upon seeing the grotesque conditions in factory farms, have decided to go vegan cold turkey (no pun intended). I have also begun to see how horribly animals are also treated in zoos, circuses, fur and leather farms, and laboratories, and support PETA in putting a stop to all of it. God bless you for all you do, PETA!

Morgan Ing :

I am starting a new chapter in my life, my husband and I have decided we are ready to have a baby. So in preparing my body for this new person I discovered veganism as well as all of the horrific torture that the animals are put through. I know that veganism will not only make my body healthier but will also make the little one who will soon be growing inside of me as healty and as strong as possible. I would love to have the benefits of the gift pack to help me and my growing family along in our new journey. Thanks for all of your inspiration.

Patricia Nance :

Hi! Recently, my husband and I have changed our lifestyle due to my battle with breast cancer. Last year a day before our 29th wedding anniversary, I went to the doctor with a golf-ball size lump in my lymph node. I was in shock when the doctor informed me that I had Stage 2 “Nodular Lymphoma” Breast Cancer which was Bi-lateral (meaning it was in both breast). I also had a “Positive HER2” gene which causes the cancer to be very aggressive. With that condition, I have to be administered 52-weeks of “Herceptin Therapy” in addition to 4 months of chemotherapies.
So the last 15 months, I have endured chemotherapies, 4 surgeries for breast reconstruction (due to a double mastectomy), 1 shoulder surgery (due to a Superior Labral Tear) and 2 broken teeth caused by almost 6 weeks of Radiation. I am still in rehab after 2 months trying to retain my full-range mobility with my shoulder.
To assist me with rebuilding my immune system and strengthening my body, my husband and I began juicing and eating raw organic veggies. We have made a remarkable transition over the last 6 weeks. During this time, we have attended cancer seminars hosted by our local health food store. We have met so many wonderful vegetarian people which lead us to a local “Vegan Coffee Shop.” This group gathers every Sunday for discussions on “how to” and “what to avoid”, so it has been helpful with our decision to become Vegan.
The reason I would like to win this amazing VegNews gift pack, is to assist us our nutrition and planning our meals. Also, it would show our friends and family that they too can make an important lifestyle change. Everyone owes it to themselves to reevaluate their eating habits and be aware of the cruelty to animals by being meat eaters. My husband has vigorously perused this for both of us but mainly to help keep me “Cancer Free.” He said that he loves me so much and he is afraid that if we don’t make this major change in our eating habits, he will lose me to cancer! This past January, we celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary and I have a brighter outlook on life living it as a Vegan! We have given up diary and wheat products and never have felt so fantastic! Consequently, my husband has lost 22 lbs in just 6 weeks. Due to my chemotherapy treatments, I am struggling due to the steroids being administered with my chemo. I will finish my last “Herceptin Therapy” on April 18th. Winning this would give me the most valuable information needed to carry on this lifestyle change to be cancer-free!
Thank you for this contest, Patricia

Sherre L Schwartz :

I deserve to win because I have been so good trying to lose weight!

TRACY HEYER :

THANKS FOR THIS CONTEST! This a great giveaway!

Kathy Conley :

Great prize pack!

April Mullins :

To Whom It May Concern:
My name is April. I am a mother of four. I have been vegetarian for 4 years now. i am trying to go vegan, if i could just lose the take out pizza with the cheese. I would ♥ to win this contest because I have had such a struggle. I wanted my two and a half year old daughter to be a vegetarian and recently found out she was allergic to soy, wheat, tomatos, citric acid, etc. I was devastated! I also have infant twins that are vegetarians! My oldest son will eat of some of the veggie stuff but not much. My husband actually enjoys the veggie stuff quite a bit, he has said if he knew more about it he might convert. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to recieve this gift, it would truly mean a lot.
Thank You
Sincerely,
April Mullins

Judi Ciccone :

Well, our three sons are grown and have families of their own now. We tried to instill in them how important it is to eat healthy, right from the time they were born. Hopefully they will pass that info onto our grandchildren. But now, it is just the two of us and we are still trying to eat and stay healthy. VegNews seems to be a big part of our lives.

Irma Nance :

I recently read a poster "An Animal Does Not Have To Die Every Time I Want To Eat." These words touched my heart deeply. I think of all the animal deaths occuring in our society, for what reason? None that I can think of in these days and times. Our Government has let our meat become dangerous, not to mention the lax laws on animal abuse, animal expermentation etc. These laws have made our our meat undesirable. I teach everyday about the positive effects of not eating meat. I teach how to prepare dishes with tofu, seitan, vegatable protien, organic vegetables etc. Eating meat has a taken a devastating toll on our bodies as well as our environment. Being a Vegan opens an old world. A world free of abused food. A world of great taste, a world of getting back to the basics. It has become vitally important that we teach our society the effects of eating meat and how it gets to our plates. The only way to get the message out is to educate people. Being a macrobiotic/vegan myself and spreading the word has helped many of my friends and contacts understand how eating meat effects our society. Any literature, t-shirts, posters, banners, patches, handbags, bookbags, hats, stickers, books, bumper stickers, etc, that can spread the word should be displayed every chance possible. I hope who ever wins will proudly display the message of the importance of vegan life. My heart hurts for all of those who are turly ignorant to what is really going on in our society with the meat industry.

Cynthia Shern :

Family needs new ideas. Count me in.

Katelin :

oh, i would loooooveee to win!
I've been wanting to subscribe for a while now, but I just finished school and began paying back -- ugh -- student loans. Funds are pretty tight.

I also live in the midwest... this is a challenge (but it isn't as bad as it used to be!) I face a lot of resistance though. I try to peacefully educate people on the benefits of veganism without lecturing. I host vegan potlucks often, and invite all my omni friends so that they can partake in TASTY food that is also CRUELTY FREE. I find that most people are simply uneducated when it comes to the plight of animals in factory farms, and the damage the industry does to the environment and ecosystem as well.

I should TOTALLY win because I will use my magazine subscription to enhance my vegan outreach and education skills and tactics in my midwestern community! :-)

Also, I'd like to marry my current significant other, and I'd LOVE to use the VegNews wedding guide as a resource in order to plan an out of this world, spectacular vegan wedding! (100% vegan in every way, of course, no exceptions!)

:-)
Katelin

Hi! Well I think i should get the prize because i'm a virgin veggie and I would love to have some helping hands. Also for my mum, because she's super duper skeptical of me being a vegetarian, so I think if she actually sat down and read about the benefits and how i won't deteriorate for lack of protein, life would be that much easier. Thanks!

Mandy :

Hi! Well I am new to the "Vegetarian World" and would love to receive your gift pack and really put your wonderful knowledge to great use! It would also help me to show my husband how to eat great & healthy without the cruel slaughtering of animals. It would be a blessing to have your gift pack and through you, you would be teaching my husband & I there is food beyond processed foods and killing of animals! :) I hope to win your gift pack! Thank you for the opportunity!

Samantha :

Hi!
I think I should get veg news for a few reasons
1.
I'm a brand, spankin new veg, and I'm in dire need of help, as no one in my family is or supports it.
Which is a little hard, when you're only 14.
2.
I'm an active member in the vegetarian lifestyle, and i take it further than just not eating meat. I do animal rights activities, and i do my best to spread info on the veg way of life.
3.
I dont have many resources to help me with being veg, and i want to do it right.
I dont want t be malnourished because of the lack of meat. I want to stay healthy, and happy, in the best way possible.

Thanks for considering me,
Sam.

Tyrah :

Hello-
I would LOVE to win the VegNews gift! I am so proud to be a vegan (7 months), I however am the only vegan that I personally know. I am also responsible for preparing meals for two preferrably (they prefer) meat eating men that I live with, and would love the help to convince their taste buds that veganism is not only compassionate and nonviolent but delicious! Thank you for the consideration and thanks for your inspiring blog-much love, Tyrah

Aubrey :

Oooh, how delicious it would be to win such a sweet prize! :) It would give me such good ideas on raising my 3 boys vegan.

Margaret :

I would love to win this package because I am always making yummy treats and lunches to bring into work for my co-workers to try and I would love to find some new wonderful recipes. People are always shocked when they find out that what they are eating is vegan!!! They can't believe how delicious vegan food really is!!! I love to cook and inspire those around me to try a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle.

I deserve to win because I have convinced someone to go veg this week-and it's pretty exciting to me and what I great gift I could share with her. I am still working on the "others" and maybe some tasty cooking will bring them to the light side!

yogesh vyawahare :

I have been vegetarian by birth, educating nonvegetarian people not to eat meat. All my family members also do so. Just due to PETA, I came to know what is vegan. I really want to become vegan, but don't know how to make delicious reciepe. I know your magazine will add specially new stuff to my knowledge and kitchen to grow VEGAN PEOPLE. May I hope to find Veg News free at my door? Be a vegetarian, Achchha Hai!!

Sean :

I think that I should get the gift pack because...

1. I am the only vegetarian in my family, and they are always whineing about how I dont eat any meat.

2.There is like only one other vegetarian in my tiny town and we arent even friends, so I feel different from everyone else.

3.People are always begging me to stop being veg, and I dont want to give in abut I am afraid I might someday, so I want this to keep me motivated.

4. Another reason I might give in is because people at my school are always making fun of me about being a vegetarian and I kinda want it to stop, but I care about the animals wayy to much.

5. I really want to motivate more people in my town to go Veg.

6.I want to go further than not just eating meat, I want to help with animal rights.

7. I want to know more facts, statistics, and other things to convince people to go vegeatarian.

8. I want to know about more resources to go to for vegetarin info. on the web. (because this and PETA is the only redources I have)and I can tell other people to go to them also.

9. Want atleast a few vegetarian frinds, and I think that this gift pack will help me.

and 10. I really, really, really want my mom to go veg beacuse I think that she would go veg if she knew everything I know about how animals are abused, and things like that.

Katrine :

I think I should win because I can correctly press the "shift" button on the keyboard. Additionally, a chance to try vegan cookies would be on my "cool" list since I never have seen them produced by a company before. Hense the need to get a magazine about all the things available to vegans.

patricia skinner :

I would love to win this prize pack because we are new to being vegans and we are going more and more Green all the time. This prize pack sounds perfect for beginners.

Jessica :

I have this great pair of red high heels that would go great with that bag! I'm a hairdresser and I hear people all the time complaining about the way they look and feel. Well stop eating crap then! Maybe if I had this mag at my salon they could have something more to enlighten them besides US weekly and the latest Britney drama. I think I have a wonderful job that can spread the word to quite a few people. They look to me for advice. I think I know more about people than their own families do. They value my opinion for whatever reason. Must be my glowing vegan complexion and my award winning personality.

Susan Kramer :

I really need help since my daughter has stuck with being a solid vegeterian since the year began. Tried it a few times before and always found it too hard to keep it healthy.
I'm guessing that the magazine could help me out a lot.

Naghma Husain :

this prize package would nudge me towards doing more of my own cooking and depending less on Amy's Kitchen frozen foods. :)

Kristie Noguera :

I deserve to win this because I have decided to stay home with my children and make them healthy food everyday. Since I stopped working I don't buy many things for myself. This prize would really be fun for me and the family. Also, I have been a vegetarian since 1994.

Kristie Noguera :

I deserve to win this because I have decided to stay home with my children and make them healthy food everyday. Since I stopped working I don't buy many things for myself. This prize would really be fun for me and the family. Also, I have been a vegetarian since 1994.

Ashley Hood :

I need to win this because I've been working toward cutting meat completely out of my diet for 10 years and I've finally done it! I've been vegatarian for 8 months now and I feel so much better. It's the only cruelty free way to live and it's also incredibly good for the environment as well. I'm still teased by family, friends and co-workers for my decision and I think this gift pack would aid me in my crusade to educate people that being vegatarian is the healthiest, most cruelty free decision that a person can make.

Jhony :

After watching "http://www.peta.org" website, about "meet your meat" video, also seeing a lot media within about choosing to change to bring less suffering for animals, i have tried my best to consume less meat as well as trying fake meat(in addition, fake meat is nicer than real one).

In fact, i am thinking the way to change to be meat-free eater habits. Hope that i can have that recipe subscription, so that it is easier to prepare the cooking with free-meat menus. Thank you.

Denise Orendi :

As a new vegetarian - (three weeks into my first 30 day pledge!) - I am really just now starting to get past my old eating routine and truly adopting a vegetarian way of life. I'm at a stage where I'm realizing there's more to being a vegetarian than just not eating meat. It really is a lifestyle. Having the support of this website and potentially a magazine subscription are priceless for me as I'm the only vegetarian in my house. Being earth friendly and cruelty-free make me feel very proud of my decision to move in this direction. Combining my newfound way of life with my long standing passion for reading would be amazing. I really hope you'll consider me when it comes to making a selection!

Tonya Morris :

I am a current reader of Vegetarian Times Magazine and have never had the opportunity to read Vegnews. I would love to give it a try. When it comes to cooking I need all the help I can get.

Melanie :

Well...ain't this great!! I personally believe that EVERYONE should have this, but alas there can only be one. I beleive that ONE should be Me. I believe this because I am new to the vegetarian lifestyle and to be honest I am sturggling a little bit. I don't eat meat, but was under the belief that chicken was OK...boy was I wrong. I checked out the website GoVeg.com from a book I was reading ("Skinny Bitch" by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin) and was SHOCKED!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing, and reading. I am now trying to get my whole family who are big meat eaters to become Vegetarian/vegan, but its gonna be hard, and maybe with this magazine around I can show them and also myself that it is achievable and a much MUCH Healthier way of life. My mother who is very ill would greatly benefit from a Vegetarian lifestyle and I think having a magazine of this sort around for her to look at and read would be great. I also believe that I deserve this because I do not know where to find vegan friendly foods, and would love to see the recipes that are in the mag, aswell as to read the articles from other people like myself. I am trying to make a lifestyle change for the better, and to help my family and friends become healthier aswell. It also helps fight against Global Warming!!
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

GO VEG!!!!

What an amazing idea! I didn't know that there were so many vegetarians and vegans out there. Starting out it was really hard being veg alone. I deserve this VegNews gift because I have turned so many of my friends and family veg. Like Mr. Phoenix, I lead by example, showing that I could still eat out with plenty of animal friendly foods and I lost over 20 pounds, just going veg. I love cooking I just want more ideas and recipes to change even more lives, especially animal lives. I want to show people that being a vegetarian is not as hard as it looks and that we have the best recipes to ever hit this planet. Thanks for reading. - Tabatha

Samantha Pruitt :

i want this so i can make an easy switch to being a vegetarian

Sylvia Porter :

i'd love this because i'm trying to convince my daughter that being a vegetarian can be yummy!

I believe that I should win this, because I am a vegan single mother who devotes all of her time to her son, saving animals, saving the environment, and educating people about these issues. I have no free time or money for myself, and a "reading break" is very welcome now and again.

Carol M. :

I'd like to be the winner of this gift set because I have a teenaged daughter who is a vegetarian and I'm trying hard to learn more about it to support her. I am also struggling to become a vegetarian myself and need all the help I can get. And, I am trying to convince my husband of the benefits of vegetarianism (and how tasty it can be). One final note. Both my husband and I have been diagnosed with heart disease and becoming vegetarians could save our lives, so winning this could be a win for life!

Anita Yancey :

I would love to get this. It really sounds great. It would probably help me with my diet.

Lena :

I'm a lone vegetarian at home and work. I would love to amaze my family and friends with some meat-free meals that don't come from the freezer. I just need a little help spreading the message of peace and love for all creatures!

Kimberley Kirkland :

I am a former vegetarian who is going vegan and adapting this lifestyle for my family - husband, 3 year old and new baby girl (11 weeks!). I also want to support my 10 year old nephew who at the age of eight decided he could never eat animals again because he loved them so much. He has been vegetarian in a house of carnivores for almost 2 years all on his own. He looks to me to provide guidance and I want to be able to give him (AND his family) as much support and help with recipes, etc., as possible.

Isabella Coelho :

First, I would like to congratulate you for his great action. It's very important to disseminate information, especialy for this couse.
I would love to recieve this kit because for a long time I try to teach my friends and family about vegetarianism, and I think it would be a GREAT help.
Take care!

Kelly :

I would love to win this magazine subscription. I decided to become vegetarian back in October and have had some struggles recently. I could the monthly motivation. My sister doesn't seem to understand why I've made this choice so late in life, and continually argues with me about eating eggs. I'm not a vegan right now, but maybe some day I can get there. Thanks!!

Alice :

Well, like a lot of the people that have already posted, I am new to veganism. In the past months since I have become vegan, I have learned plenty. I have only bought 2 issues of vegnews, though, and the two I've gotten so far have been so incredibly helpful!!! I am always looking for new recipes and ways to present veganism to people.
Some of my more athletic friends were a great audience to relate the "Vegan Athletes" article to in the Jan/Feb issue.
Needless to say that this magazine is full of great information, but I, like you, am the only vegan I know. Knowing that there is magazine that pretty much only I buy from my college bookstore makes me feel special because no one else gets it/wants it, and I love being unique.
Also, the most blatant reason is because I am a poor college student who cannot afford $5 per issue. College kids love free stuff :-)
I hope I am picked for this lovely contest, but if not then I am sure it will go to someone else who deserves it more!!

Oh, pick me! :-)

In the last several months, I've decided there's just no need to use animals to make dessert. It's gross and unnecessary -- there are so many possibilities in the vegan world!

But I just started reading Skinny Bitch by Freedman and Barnouin a few days ago, and now I'm convinced that a vegetarian lifestyle is necessary for health and humane reasons.

My husband (who grew up only eating red meat, but doesn't want to anymore) and I are new to this, and any help we can get would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for having so great contest!!1

I would really appreciate the Vegnews subscription. I am happy to announce that I have been vegan for a year now and I think it is great. I am also happy to say that I have been educating many of my friends on vegetarianism and veganism and have helped four friends go vegetarian. Atleast one of them would like to commit to being a vegan as well. I am very proud of the effects I have made and I know the magazine would help me to better inform both myself and others. Yay! Go Veg!!!

aquabams :

Yvette Mack :

It's always great to win a prize or contest, but when the prize benefits your lifestyle as a vegetarian, keeping you on track, it means so much more. I never stop searching for the variety in being vegetarian, and always continue to educate myself in order to maintain a healthy and sustaining life. I'm glad that I happen to stumble upon to your website.

I enjoy reading your article. Thank for share great information.
