A few months ago, I wrote about a fantasy involving a swimming pool filled with vegan Twinkies. That fantasy may soon become a reality, thanks to Vegan Honey, the Brooklyn-based bakery that offers up mouthwatering treats online at Etsy.com.
Vegan Honey sells pies, pastries, doggie treats, and more and even has a "Fauxstess" line, which features chocolate-covered vegan Twinkies! Just about every dessert I can think of is available on the site, and lucky for you, you now have a chance to win some of them.
Vegan Honey has been kind enough to donate a $40 gift certificate to Etsy.com that will go to one lucky winner. All you have to do for a chance to win is leave an interesting comment about your favorite vegan dessert—we'll keep it simple. The most unique, witty, inspiring, or delicious comment wins.
The contest ends on November 27, and the winner will be chosen and by November 30.
Just so you know…by giving us your details here, we're taking that as acknowledgment that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy. And by commenting, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.

My favorite vegan dessert, and recently has this become my favorite, is The Lady and Sons Peach Cobbler.
I recenlty found the recipe at Food Network. I make it vegan by using soy milk and vegan butter. The recipe takes 5 minutes to prepare, put it in the oven and 45 minutes later you have Peach Cobbler!
The crust is crisp, the inside moist, warm and peachy.
Please check it out. Everyone that tastes it LOVES it.
By the way, was the winner of the favorite vegan southern food ever announced?

I'll find any reason - or no reason - to make cookies. My friend just got back from a week-long vacation? Welcome home cookies! It's your birthday? Cookies! You had a bad day? Cookies! You helped me carry a heavy box to from my apartment to my car? Cookies for you! I have a favorite recipe, and it's pretty complicated. I've made them so much that I've committed it to memory. Sometimes they're pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter-chip cookies, plain sugar cookies, classic chocolate-chip cookies, ginger cookies. I'd eat cookies all day if I could.

My favorite vegan dessert? Well, this may not count, but Cocoa Pebbles. It's something about their crunchy, chocolately, sweet goodness that makes them irristible. Who knows how many boxes I have gone through. And this cereal with vanilla soymilk = YUMMY and happy tummy for me. Every morning I have a bowl and every afternoon my porkerness takes over and I pig out on the treat again. At least it has 0g. Trans fat per serving!

It's funny so often, people tell me: I could never be vegan, I love sweets to much. This always makes me laugh as I think of the myriads of ice "cream," cookies, cakes, scones, everything and anything that are or can be vegan. Who can say no to moist vegan brownies smothered in vanilla tofu-frosting? Well, maybe it doesn't sound good but I haven't met anyone yet who hasn't loved my recipe!

Who says veggies can't be a dessert? I love steamed brussels sprouts drenched in sea salt and cracked black pepper. I'll take that over cookies or brownies any day. I've been known to get up in the middle of the night to sneak a bowl while everyone else is sleeping. Yumm!

My favorite vegan dessert would have to be pudding. Cookies n Cream pudding made from a Jello Pudding Mix and extra Oreos, then frozen. It is the best vegan ice cream I've ever tasted; so creamy and delicious, it may be better than any nonvegan ice cream I've ever tasted.
I'm also a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven. When they are warm and gooey, and the chocolate chips are oh-so-melty and delicious, that sugary, hint of cinnamon taste makes me melt just as the chocolate chips in my mouth.

Anjelica, I think you're right about some vegan desserts not sounding good because to many people, the word tofu is YUCK. But, when you actually taste a tofu something, especially a dessert, it is smacking good!
I usually don't tell people that there is tofu in a particular dish, until after they taste it and they say they like it. I'm afraid hearing the word tofu may close their minds a bit.

My favorite vegan dessert is very hard to choose because if I had my way I would eat nothing BUT dessert. Thus, my motivation to post this comment... However, before I became vegan, my fave treat was always ice cream so now I would have to say that soy ice cream cones on the couch with my honey (who eats it even though he's not veg!) can't be beat. But I'm willing to bet vegan twinkies will be right up there, too. :)

I am new vegan which means that Im still experimenting but I tried a peach cobbler last night that was OFF THE HOOK!!! I was one of those people who never understood how vegans enjoyed food but I was dead wrong. And now I hear they have twinkies... What more can you ask for? I am just glad that there are businesses that take pride in healthier foods like Vegan Honey. Without them, I would probably have never made the switch to becoming a vegan. Thanks

I've recently tried this recipe called "Pumpkin Wonders". Any recipe can become vegan by replacing a few ingredients. Replace flour with rice flour and the butter with vegetable margarine. You can serve it with soy ice cream or that brilliant frozen Cool Whip! Baked apples would make a good "side dessert" to the Pumpkin Wonders!
Pumpkin Wonders (vegan) (gluten free)
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1 cup white rice flour
* 3/4 cup potato starch
* 1/2 cup vegetable margarine
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 1 cup canned pumpkin
* 1/2 cup ground walnuts
* water to mix
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Sift the dry ingredients together. Cream the shortening and the sugar. Add the pumpkin. Add the remainder of the dry ingredients and nuts. Add a little water and mix until smooth.
Drop by tablespoonfuls onto cookie sheets and bake 9 to 12 minutes, until brown. Cool until firm, and remove to a wire rack to cool.

I love many vegan desserts, but one that has been my favorite since I was little is fruit pizza. I used to request this at my birthday parties when I was young, which probably made my parents happy, but maybe not the kids that expected birthday cake! To make this awesome pizza, start with any vegan sugar cookie recipe and bake one giant cookie to use as the pizza crust. Next make a "cream cheese frosting" using vegan cream cheese, sugar and any flavoring you have around. Spread a layer on the cookie leaving a small space on the edge for the crust. Then cut up TONS of fruit of all verities and arrange in colorful rings around the pizza for the toppings. To serve just cut like a normal pizza and eat it with your hands!

Oh, how we love the wonderful indescribable smell of double chocolate vegan cake - with thick whipped chocolate frosting, and layers of chocolate cake, with vegan chocolate chips, and raspberry sauce drizzled on top - is there anything more sinfully decadent? Well yeah!!! Those vegan Twinkies - my gosh - could it be so?? The fantasy zone of junk-food-aholics must now bow down before the....VEGAN TWINKIE! Have we entered a new star system of vegan-mania? Or has some fine-feathered friendly fun chef in Brooklyn just concocted the wonder food for all time? That must be it....and now I must bid you adieu, as I lay me down to covort with visions of sparkling, golden, moist, creme-filled animal-friendly Twinkies...*sigh*

One of my favorite desserts, especially for fall, is apple crisp. It's so simple to just throw together quickly and yet is always so gooey and cinnamon-y and filling. The best part is it's incredibly easy to prepare it vegan style. Just sub vegan margarine for the butter most recipes use.
I don't even use a recipe anymore, I've made it too often. I do make it slightly lighter by only using about half the margarine and replacing the rest with some unsweetened apple sauce.

My favorite vegan dessert is a Chocolate Chip Muffin from Sidney’s Café in Fullerton, California. This contest suits me however, as twinkies were my original favorite dessert. I have composed a series of haikus to express my rather strong feelings towards these dietary staples. The first series incorporates a traditional kigo, or seasonal word. The second adds a more modern twist on this ancient art.
Series 1:
Chocolate muffins:
Though vegan, still tasty with
Warm tea on cold nights.
Vegan Twinkies are
My November comfort food;
Soft, gooey, and—yum.
Series 2:
The revolution
Has begun. Chocolate chip
Muffins: no cows’ milk.
Vegan Twinkies help
Carry on the good fight.
Compassion and health.

Sooooo… I am a long time vegetarian and just starting to convert to veganisim… and I am having an absolute blast finding and baking vegan yumminess that I have gained a pound or two or maybe five… as fun as it discovering a new vegan sweet it is 10 times as fun to trick my skeptical nonvegan friends and coworkers into coming back for seconds to my plate of vegan cookies and cupcakes. It’s been such a great way to introduce my new vegan status and show my skeptical friends that being vegan is not that bad and in fact it can be rather sweet

Before I made a decision to go vegan. My main concern...SWEETS!!! What will I do to remedy my massive sweet tooth. That's when a voice whispered from above, "Andrea, go to The Nile." I went forth and upon arrival requested a slice of the coconut cream double layer cake from the vegan eatery in Philadelphia. As the angel, I mean salesman worked to fit the enormous slice into the container, a choir began to sing acknowledging the wonderous occasion. With the cake now in hand I opened the box to be welcomed by a glorious light of joy and illumination. After one fork full, this experience, with heaven on a plate, had committed me to a life of veganhood.

Personally, I don't think it's all that fair to ask a vegan what is their favorite dessert. We do not eat animals. Thus, our taste buds are somehow advanced beyond comprehension, making every bite a gateway into a new realm of existence. But if we have to name just one dessert, then name a dessert we must. Hmmm; I love vegan chocolate chips mixed within vegan vanilla ice cream and topped with mixed berries, graham crackers, and toasted coconut lightly sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. But seriously, you gotta love almost any dessert truly. I guess vegan ice cream topped with green olives or brocolli or spinach might not taste that great, but I'd be willing to even give it a try. You dig?

How could I forget when my roommate and I perfected this recipe on the second or third shot. I still need a title for it:
1 large, ripe plantain (peeled, of course)
2 Tbsp. vegan margarine (Earth Balance is the best!)
2-3 dashes cinnamon (or to taste)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
half a can of coconut milk (stirred or shaken well)
Cut the plantain in half (so you have two shorter pieces). Then cut each half into thirds lengthwise (this time giving you thin spears.)
Fry the plantain spears in the margarine on medium heat for about 5 minutes, flipping the pieces every few minutes until they are fully cooked and lightly brown. During the last minute of cooking the spears, add the walnuts and cinnamon. Flip the ingredients until the cinnamon evenly coats everything, and allow to cook.
Pour the spears and walnuts into 2 banana split dishes (or similar bowls.) Pour coconut milk over each dish. Top with more cinnamon if desired.
Can I get a "Mmmm-Mmmmm"?!
If you have never worked with plantains, one tip is that they are brown when ripe. The browner, the better, in fact! Also, Earth Balance is deliciously salty, so if you are using a margarine that isn't salted, you may want to add a pinch or two of salt at the beginning.

I have three favorite desserts. One is Brownies made with zucchini and using applesauce instead of butter/oil. When they are done, I sprinkle vegan chocolate chips on top of the brownies while still in the oven with the heat turned off. I leave them there just about a minute, until the chips melt, then spread them on top as a frosting. Yum!
I also love an easy one: chocolate tofu ice cream with an oreo crumbled over the top.
Like fruit? I love this one: peel a banana and stick vegan chocolate chips into it all around the banana. Soo good!

So many choices but what I have for dessert most often is a small piece of dark chocolate. And I mean really dark. Yes, I've become a chocolate snob. If it doesn't have at least 70% cacao I'll turn my nose up at it.
But what's really irritating are companies that put milkfat or some other such dairy product in their dark chocolate. Yes, I'm talking to you Ghirardelli. Forking cheaters.

Hmm, apricot dumplings w/ a drizzle of melted vegan butter and a heaping dose of brown sugar... yum!

I had the most fabulous sorbet for dessert once: blackberry cabernet sorbet! (yes vegan)
I love desserts with fruit in them because somehow I can fool myself into believing they are mildly healthy. Peach cake, apple cobbler, blueberry coffee cake (esp the one from VwaV), all yum.
But if I had to choose something truly decadent, it would be the chocolate peanutbutter souffle I had at Blossom in NYC. TO DIE FOR. as are most chocolate-peanutbutter combos.

I don't know; I've never had a vegan for dessert.
But ask any guy who's had me for dessert and they'll tell you my honey is sweetest.

My favorite vegan dessert is any classic dessert omnis enjoy & the vegan versions we fool them with! The thrill of "anything you can do (dairy), I can do better (vegan)" is the ultimate! Cakes & cookies & ice creams, oh my!
I love to make cupcakes.. a fave is chocolate, filled with decadent peanut butter caramel, then topped with dark & luscious ganache.
Do the people have to know they're cruelty free confections? Nope! Do I tell them? Yes! Only AFTER they remark how delicious they are!

I love vegan mousse. I thought I'd have to give mousse up, and I'm so thrilled that I can make a vegan alternative that tastes great.

My favorite vegan dessert...ICE CREAM. Yes it's true, vegans can eat ice cream too. So many companies now like Temptations and others make vegan ice cream that is so delicious! There were so many nights I craved ice cream before it was veganized, so thank goodness now I can enjoy my favorite dessert every night.

I myself am not a vegan-vegetarian, but my 17 year old daughter has chosen to be, and I try to support her in every way that I can. I try to find recipes and buy products that fit into her new lifestyle (she is into green, and for the most part, I try to be,too. But my other kids love Twinkies, so I had a box in the house a few weeks ago. My daughter,(Nicole, by the way)read the ingredients, and found beef fat! I was even disgusted by that!I only use vegetable or canola in my baking, and the thought of lard in sweet things is just nasty! I'm slowly coming around to her way of thinking about her choices for myself, but I'll buy anything she wants to try. I even bought a bag of TVP so we can make vegan tacos,and I know I can handle that 'cause it's in a lot of regular stuff now,too.
But back to the Twinkies...
She's so adamant about her beliefs about going green, no cruelty to animals, etc...etc..., and I'm really proud that she's standing up for a cause she believes in, even though sometimes people give her a hard time about it. I think she deserves to win a box of Vegan Twinkies! She's awsome!

try this: get yourself some frozen blueberries and put some in a bowl. now get get yourself some soymilk- vanilla and chocolate are the yummiest here- and pour some over the frozen blueberries, just enough to cover. (You can add some sugar, or stevia or whatever your preferred sweetener is too, if you like it really sweet.) By the time you get a spoon out of the drawer some of the soymilk will be frozen around the berries creating a delicious icy treat along w/ the berries themselves! simple & delicious! (and good for you, too. shhhh!)

When I first went vegan almost 4 years ago, I thought that I would have to give up on most desserts. I sadly said goodbye to my favorite dessert: cake, and stuck to fruit. When I moved to a new city last year, one of my new-found vegan friends told me just how wrong I had been. With her recipes and a little of my own imagination, I've been making chocolate cake, pumpkin cupcakes, and pumpkin pie this fall. My favorite dessert was my friend's birthday gift to me last week: a wonderfully moist and creamy Boston Cream Pie. It doesn't get any better than that.
